Yep, the mourning doves raised their little one and have moved on. The nest has been empty for the last 2 days. I was talking to my sister about it, and she says that they will probably be back as they can produce up to 6 brood in one season.

I can still hear their coo's, which, my sister says is actually their mating calls. So, I'll wait and see if my little dove family comes back. And them things grow fast! I also found out that both parents will incubate the eggs. Interesting what one can learn when doing some research.

Yes, mourning dove pairs are a team and they mate for life. Ain't it cool?

I can think of some penguins that Skwirl wouldn't mind if they got shot.

We always have a yard full of birds including doves and ravens and who knows what else. I throw out food for them and the squirrels every day. I am on the hunt right now for a lizard that ran past me into the house today. That happens quite often and I usually find them in one of my houseplants and return them outside. They are cute little things.

Ok where were we? Oh yes, Mourning Doves, they will probably be back later on this summer for another round.

I know I'm weird.. I like Pigeons too.
