Just out of curiousity, when was your first serious long term relationship you had in life? I haven't met very many people in my entire adult life that has not been involved in a serious or a long term relationship by the age of 22. I know that there are some people out there that have not experienced one by the age 30 these days.

Me, my first relationship started at 16. More of serious and long term erelationship I had after that started when I was 17 and lasted until I was about 21.

From my experience and observation, it seems like gen-Y may not find a serious or long term relationship by the age of 22 like most other previous generations have for decades. It could be that the fact that a lot of gen-Y's are more anti-social and always tuned into the internet and other gadgets. JMO

Okay okay, I may be stereo typing in a sense...but it makes one think as to why some younger people in their 20's and 30's have yet to experience one.

Well, maybe most of us just don't choose to repeat the mistakes of our elders and have divorces, perhaps? How most of us carry ourselves socially is irrelevant to why we choose to wait longer to settle down. Nothing wrong with a little self-awareness every now and again.

It started when I was 15. We went together until 20. I married my first husband and when I divorced him 4 yrs later, my first love and I picked up again for a couple of years..........what we found was that you just cant go back in time and to this day we are the best of friends.

Actually, my first serious relationship wasn't until I was 32, when I met Mick. Yes, I had boyfriends before Mick, but, none that lasted more than a year or two, and certainly none I ever wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

My first long term relationship was with someone I had known since I was a small child and can't really say what age it started to get serious. We just kind of grew into it as we got older and lasted until he was killed in Nam when I was 18.

I'm guessing long-term is around 6 months. If that's thae case then my first one started when I was14 and last about a year. I jumped right into an other year long relationship right after that.

I don't comment very often any more, but I had to comment on this one....I met my 1st husband when I was 15, soon to be 16, married him when I was 18, divorced at 30...that was my longest.
And the only good thing I got out of that was my 3 kids..wouldn't trade that marriage for anything, because I got them.

For some reason, what you just stated here reminded me of the movie "Peggy Sue Got Married".

Very good movie...I'm sure Bruce is now going to call me on it by saying that's a chick flick.

For those of you that aren't familiar the roman numerals, that's 15-18.

My first was at age 29 and lasted 6 years. My first wife and the mother of my two boys. And yes we still talk and keep in touch because of the kids. Even though they are 39, and 40 now.

I'd say my longest term relationship was with my right hand at the age of five. Then we broke up when I was 17. I met a girl. Then we got back together shortly after that. Me and my hand has had an on and off relationship pretty much all my life
