Celebrating St. Patricks ... pagan style Yo Padraic! posted 3/16/2010 11:16:12 PM | 3 kudos what's this?     report abuse   theSkwirl Many Pagans think that celebrating St. Patrick's day is an abomination. They feel that because Patrick was a Christian who is celebrated as having run the 'snakes' aka druids out of Ireland that we should not celebrate it at all. I take a slightly different stance. Because St. Patrick did his duty, as he saw it, he created an even more secretive, more magical practice in his home country. I say let's celebrate the day anyway.. for a different sort of meaning. Let's (those who have a pagan bent) wear the green to symbolize our rebellion from rule and a snake to let em all know we're back. You can guarantee that I'll be wearing a nice green snake tomorrow.. Ok.. now that my bitch session is over... happy St. Patrick's day.. in Padraic's honor ... A happy jig.... A good drinkin song... 	I do have a green snake charm that my daughter gave me years ago on St Patrick's day. Just please don't make me drink green beer.

	I really do enjoy Irish music. If you listen you can hear the correlation to early mountain music. Magical.

	he created an even more secretive, more magical practice in his home country. Not to be picky (ok...maybe a little...lol) but Ireland was not his home country. He was a roman brit and was captured and brought to Ireland as a slave. Or maybe I just read that wrong?
