An engineer ( probably from Israel ) has the near perfect solution for airport security! Here's a solution to all the controversy over full-body scanners at the airports. Have a booth that you can step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on you. It would be a win-win for everyone, and there would be none of this crap about racial profiling and this method would eliminate a long and expensive trial. Justice would be quick and swift.... 	That has some potential. Look at the benefits: Looney homicide bomber approaches airport and is sent into the scanning booth, explosives detector detects explosives, BOOM. The nutjob is gone, and the rest of the innocent passengers are safe. Saves time and money on locking up the nutjob, and saves time and money on a trial. Looks to me like the only person who would be unhappy would be the defense lawyer losing out on cash. Oh well.

	If only it were that simple. Unfortunately the bomb would have to be fully assembled as in liquids being combined with other components to enable the combustion to take place.

	Let me help you out. First of all, full body scanners are not intended to detect explosives and detonate them. El gato is merely presenting a hypothetical situation. (look up the word hypothetical). The shoe bomber after having been thwarted prompted measures requiring passengers to remove their shoes. They did a study and 21 airports failed to detect combustible materials. In that study they would not reveal how they detected the potential bombs, for security reasons. Now dear, if you still follow me, we're talking about two different episodes here and two different scenarios. One hypothetical posited by el gato, (where the technology is not available) and the other a proceedure we've already placed in practice but the information as to how the bombs were detected has not been revealed. So we can only conjecture. Can you see the distinction? I'm afraid you're guilty as usual of attacking the messenger rather than the issue. Keep up and stay current. Possibly put your weekly review aside for an hour to remain informed. I'll be glad to entertain any questions you have. Always glad to educate.

	Here ya go "dr" The most infamous in recent years occurred on Dec. 22, 2001. On that day, Richard Reid boarded a Paris-to-Miami flight wearing a pair of dark-colored, high-topped shoes. Into the waffle-style soles, he had woven a high explosive and a length of detonator cord. He linked his device to a paper-wrapped, homemade, high explosive initiator. Alert passengers and crew members spotted him bending over in an attempt to ignite a fuse and subdued him. His device was assembled. He was just too stupid to detonate them. Sorry el gato. Your blog idea is great. Too bad some have to spend their day trying to impress upon others how "intelligent"? they think they are.
