Be aware there are a couple of new ones out there now..
PayPal and FBI scams.
I've had PayPal for years with no problems..
The scam hit my Debit card for $464.25 overnight..
Lots of hassle getting everything reinstated.

I bought a bunch of items from my suppliers the other day and Pay Pal called me and asked if I bought all that. They tend to do that when I have that card smoking from using it so many times in one day. It seem the purchase of 200 rolls of floral tape and 2000 pearl sprays had him a little concerned. I appreciate them checking though. Had someone steal my credit card in Walmart one time and bought a computer with it. That turned into a big headache.

just out of curiosity was this a case of you got an email with an offer and you purchased it using paypal? I use paypal a lot.......but when I bought a membership on line one time and instead of charging me the 4.67 that was the trial membership fee........they charged me 94.50.........after i did some research found that they had done this literally to hundreds of people.......this is still in open investigation but I have been refunded the amount from my bank............

I now have a second account at my bank (they dont charge me for it) and thats what I use to purchase online and paypal..........I only put the exact amount needed for the purchase......that way if they try to take more they can't..........

Dayna..Nope..It was an email with the PayPal logo
From Accounts_Dep.
Something about updating my account info.
Ended up with several 39.99 charges for escort services, etc.
There were several for a couple of bucks too.
Next day my browser sent me a notice that it was reported
as a fraud..A day late and almost 500 bucks later..
I did have one prob with a 1.99 CD and got charged for an ongoing
membership for $71 per month..

I got an email a while back from my "bank" saying they needed to update my info and to respond with the required info. I didn't. Instead, I printed out the email, went up to the branch office and asked what this was all about. They didn't send that email, in fact, they told me that if they need me to update any information, they would call and arrange to have me come down to their office.

As for the FBI...they NEVER send anything via email asking for information. There was a story about that on our local news a while back about that. If the FBI wants info, they contact you directly by having an agent showing up on your doorstep.

The rule is....never, ever, give out personal information via the internet, especially from emails.
