LET IT REALLY SINK IN - THEN CHOOSE .

John is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, 'If I were any better, I would be twins!'

He was a natural motivator.

If an employee was having a bad day, John was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up and asked him, 'I don't get it!

You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?'

He replied, 'Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or ... you can choose to be in a bad mood

I choose to be in a good mood.'

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or...I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it.

Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or... I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life..

'Yeah, right, it's not that easy,' I protested.

'Yes, it is,' he said. 'Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood.

You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live your life.'

I reflected on what he said. Soon hereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that he was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower..

After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, he was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back.

I saw him about six months after the accident.

When I asked him how he was, he replied, 'If I were any better, I'd be twins...Wanna see my scars?'

I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

'The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon-to-be born daughter,' he replied. 'Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or...I could choose to die. I chose to live.'

'Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?' I asked

He continued, '..the paramedics were great.

They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read 'he's a dead man'. I knew I needed to take action.'

'What did you do?' I asked.

'Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me,' said John. 'She asked if I was allergic to anything 'Yes, I replied.' The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Gravity'.'

Over their laughter, I told them, 'I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.'

He lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude... I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully.

Attitude, after all, is everything .

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.'

After all today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday..

You have two choices now:

01. Ignore this

02. Share it with the people you care about.

You know the choice I made.

The bottom line: It's your choice how you live your life
This is my personal mantra... all we have is now and we can choose to be positive or negative. We have very little control in our world, thus the only thing we can control is ourselves, our perspective and the kind of energy we share with one another.

This may sound trite to some. It may not make sense to those in pain or suffering from the loss of a loved one. However, a positive attitude can sustain you through the tough times and challenges life throws at us.

I choose to embrace life and all it offers. Thanks for sharing!!!

Believe it or not (and I don't care if you believe it or not) I am rarely in a bad mood. Life is as you feel about it right now, day in/day out on a continuous basis. There will be positives and negatives. There will be days when nothing can go wrong and there will be days when nothing can go right. It's called life.

Of course, there is the proverbial question; is the glass half or half empty? The answer is obviously yes.

Some of the people that are quickest to laugh are the ones that are quick to anger. Their moods can swing rapidly as they lack an internal emotional balance in responding to external influences as ingrained inner peace eludes them. Even someone on a Web site disagreeing can provoke them resulting in acute anger management issues.

It is much like playing cards in that there are good hands, bad hands, and all points in between. The key and final measure is in how you choose respond to those hands and how you elect to play them.

It is not so much a matter of being positive as it is not feeling negative.

If I have a hero or person I have personally known that I admire the most, it would be Mary Kay Ash of cosmetics fame. She had a saying that I have heard others cite:
Yesterday is history
Tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift which is why it is called the present.

I've always been one to view the glass as "half full". Oh I have days where I feel like giving up. But, I step back, take a look at what I have, and realize I don't have it all that bad. I've got a home, my brats...errr...dogs, and a job. There are others out there who are not as fortunate, and I feel for them.

So yes, I do choose to stay positive. It's so much healthier than being mad all the time. Yes, we do have choices in life. To sit back and blame others for one's own failures, well, it's just wrong. Ain't nothing wrong with taking that job at McDonald's till you can find an opening in the field you want to work in.

I need to hear this and I have someonelse that needs to hear it, but if I tell them I will get body slammed! I am going to pray for this person as well as be kind, gentle, sweet, and helpful to her until I either die or she gets it! Wish me luck! ...right now I am just glad she is on vacation so I don't have to worry with her....

There are some days I get frustrated and I allow myself a few minutes of that to just get that feeling out of the way before I pick myself up and ask myself so what are you going to do now? I have always felt when one door closes go find an open window somewhere if another door does not appear to be opening. That really helped when I lost my job last year. I just looked at what I knew how to do and started my own business. Giving up and just doing nothing has never been an option. I am sure I am not the most positive person in te world 24/7 due to the attitude of other's around me, but all I can do is try and do the best I can every day and be happy with that. My grandfather always told me when things go wrong you can either do something about it or just sit there and feel sorry for yourself and do nothing. That and there are always going to be people around you with a bad attitude, don't let their attitude mess up your life. The last one comes in really handy these days.

I confess...I'm moody...emotional.....sometimes erratic...sometimes positive, sometimes negative.

I am who I am who I am and this

Their moods can swing rapidly as they lack an internal emotional balance in responding to external influences as ingrained inner peace eludes them.

sounds all well and good but it's just passing judgment on others that he is incapable of understanding....too much starch in ur britches hun.

I am me and my emotional makeup is unique and misunderstood by those who haven't a clue about riding the waves of life with all its consequences and heartache...I live in the emotional fast lane and make no apologies for it.

An excerpt from one of my poems:

......This world of emotions tho' wild as the sea
causing these storms that so trouble me...
I'd rather be shipwrecked by these winds of emotion
than sailing along on a glass-topped ocean....
for stardust and moonbeams
are stirred by the storm
and it's in fire and desire
that fantasy's born...
So I'll stay in this world of emotion..so rampant and wild
and love without measure...with the heart of a child.

02. Share it with the people you care about.

Hmmm... I have two choices of how I would share this with my daughter and grand daughter:

1. I could do it the easy way and simply copy and paste the URL to this blog into an email to them- but that of course, would give them a peek into part of my life showing that their father/grandad, is a sex crazed maniac that lurks among them OR: (preferred)

2. Copy just the text in your blog, sans the comments and email it to them!

So, decisions you make and the attitude in which you make them, will stir your life, hopefully in the direction you want it to go- with (fortunately/unfortunately) a few curves thrown at you from time to time, of which, the decisions you make and the attitude you have then, will enhance or impede your goals as you go along in life! It's life... it is what it is!

And, if you're wondering... WTF did I just say? It's because I'm over sexed... or, is it undersexed? Hmmm... you're gonna have to make that decision for me this time and remember, be nice- that's the proper attitude!
