Are You a Square…or Are You a Cool Square?

It has come to my attention that the older I get the more uncool I get…or at least that’s what I thought until recently. When I was younger, I was hip and constantly on the go, even with a child in tow, and I seemed to be able to burn the candle at both ends with flair. I was constantly in motion and intent on not letting my youth get away from me. It was great fun while it lasted, but I’m no longer at that place in my life. I’ve traveled to someplace more comfortable. I’m kind of curious how the peeps in Pervia see themselves.

Are you a square or...are you a cool square?

These days, I’m happy doing the ordinary and just being. What does that mean exactly? It means I go where the wind blows me. I don’t try to meet other’s expectations. I embrace what makes me happy and make no apologies for these feelings and attitudes. If that means I hang at home in my sweats reading a novel and drinking coffee all day…then so be it.

I guess I’m thinking about this today because my son called me a “cool square” the other day. I had to ask him what he meant by that statement, as I was clueless. His response was I still knew how to enjoy myself and have a good time out on the town, but that I preferred my own company to a room full of acquaintances. He also stated that I made staying at home seem fun and that that in itself was cool because most people think staying at home is boring.

I don't know about anyone else but I loved his definition! Why? Because being square never seemed so cool...until now.

It took me awhile to figure this one out. I finally learned when I'm happy the the people around me are happy or at least not so crabby—LOL!

Your son's definition is spot on! Being a cool square is the best. Cool blog! You just earned a cool round green thang!

There is much to be said about enjoying the simple pleasures of life. However, I not sure if the revelation comes with age, lack of disposable income, or both. Then again, when I was in my twenties nobody was affluent but the people made the difference and it was never boring as we didn't have much money but did have a lot of fun.

I'm a multifaceted octagon! What ever happens, is going to happen through my cache of ideas I have (8 so far?)- which is much more preferable to sitting around doing nothing!

It depends on your definition of square.. I've been told I'm so square I don't even roll downhill..but that was by a crank fiend. So hard telling. I dunno if I'm square or cool.. naw.. I think I'm just a skwirl.

I'm not really sure. I'm just me, and on different days that can have different meanings.
But I make sure everyday that I still like the person looking back at me in the mirror.
Square or not.

Good blog though.... green round cookie... okay, so maybe it's not exactly round. It's still a good thing.

i don't know really..i don't think i'm all that exciting but my kids friends..teens and the teens and 20somethings i work with all tell me i am..they seem enthralled by everything i do. i don't act or dress like women my age...i date younger guys andi make jewelry and draw portaits ..glass blow,etc..they just can't get enough of that stuff..lol! i still think i'm a goober..lol..but i guess i'm not!
