Although I do not frequent bars or taverns regularly, there is one place I enjoy going to with good friends... especially those who like to dance.
My favorite place is Gruene Hall in Gruene, Texas just north of New Braunfels and San Antonio. Gruene Hall is a 128-year old dance hall. It's full of history, music and good times—the Holy Trinity of Texas—which follows the Texas mentality of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it!' It's the real deal... the bathrooms are out back, the windows are covered with chicken wire with wooden flaps to keep out the rain, the wooden floor is uneven—scratched and marred from thousands of boot scooters dancing across the floor, the beer is ice cold and the music is the best anywhere 'round. Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen and Hal Ketchum cut their musical teeth here. Garth Brooks, the Dixie Chicks, Albert Collins the Blues player and Aaron Neville love the joint. Ray Wylie Hubbard, Jerry Jeff Walker and Willie Nelson show up unannounced and jam into the wee hours. It's a kick-ass place... just walk in, there will be someone good to great playing, and you'll have a helluva good time!
Do you have a favorite dance hall, bar or dive you enjoy with friends? Where is it located and why do you like it so much?

A tavern. I dont think it's there anymore. I liked it because it was small & dank. Historical. Cobblestone. Only 2 pool tables. It was very comfortable.

Well it's not a dance hall, bar or dive but I like going down to the Ryman Auditorium over the winter months and watching the country stars in person. From November until March everyone is back there. It's the original home of The Grand Ole Opry. The new place is okay but it doesn't have the history that The Ryman has.

There used to be a bar here, Drifters Inn, that my friends I liked to go to on weekend nights. They would have live bands playing hard rock, pool tables, arcade games, and dancing.
But, it was also a haven for pot dealers, and eventually, it got raided and closed down.

I liked it because it was small & dank. Historical. Cobblestone. Only 2 pool tables. It was very comfortable. I like these old places... where it's cozy and a great place to unwind with friends over a cold brewski.

it was also a haven for pot dealers, and eventually, it got raided and closed down. Damn... the beer drinkers, pool players and dancers really know how to mess things up don't they?

When I just want to go out an have fun I go to the local gay bar. Been going since it opened 10 yrs ago. I like being able to drink, flirt, even dance if I wanna and not worry about any nasty drunk men trying to get in my pants or follow me home.

"The Buzzard Walk" dance Sorry, that should be Buzzard Lope... The owner Stan, and a couple of the house musicians, wrote it as a song and the dance evolved.. Have you ever seen a buzzard walk or lope around road kill?? This dance consists of a bunch of drunks walking around on the stage with their heads bobbing forward and back with hands tucked under armpits,to simulate wings, and strutting around like a buzzard It ends like roadkill..Everybody on their back kicking their legs in the air.. Borty would love it..Lots of panty shots They even have a Buzzard Queen contest every year

Lounges are stupid I concur.
When I just want to go out an have fun I go to the local gay bar. Been going since it opened 10 yrs ago. I like being able to drink, flirt, even dance if I wanna and not worry about any nasty drunk men trying to get in my pants or follow me home. When I went to a gay bar that was primarily for women there was always a fight brewing. However, the bars for men had the best music, sound systems and dance floors plus everyone got along. It must depend on the bar, location or something I'm not privy too.
Borty would love it..Lots of panty shots Where is our guy with the foil hat? Skwirl, has he been bad AGAIN and relegated to the closet?
