I have been fairly quiet about it lately, as the Saints had already clinched the second round playoffs. All those games up to the playoffs didn't matter much, but now, they have made history. Might not mean so much to many of you, but it's a huge deal to me.

Growing up in the shadow of New Orleans, and being part cajun, you were either a Saints fan or an Aints fan depending on how the season was going. One thing was for sure though, you had no other choices else be considered an outcast. Rooting for someone else during a Saints game was like rooting for the Florida Gators while visiting someone you know in Georgia. It's pure unhealthy.

Yet, I wasn't a Saints fan growing up because it was what you were supposed to do. No, I was a fan because I have always rooted for the underdog. I like underdogs in the movies, TV shows, sports, and in real life. Many times I have been known to bet against the obvious team, because there is something so much more satisfying when the win is unexpected. Also, if they lose... well it is expected, so it's not as much a let down. I root for the underdog because often times they try harder. They might go down, but they go down with a fight.

New Orleans has done this many times. This time however, they were going down with a fight, and actually came up with the win. Something I never thought I would see. I have worked jobs that allowed me the opportunity to meet well known bands such as Saliva, Chevelle, Drowning Pool, and music legends such as Earl Thomas Conley. I have met actors, grew up with an actress and her family, and stood not far from President Bush during the aftermath of Katrina (I could feel cross hairs). All of that pales in comparison to the feeling of watching my favorite team accomplish something I never thought they would. And this is just the Championship. If they win the Superbowl I may well kill over from a heart attack.

I had slacked off from watching the Saints for a few years after moving to Georgia...GO DAWGS!!, but in 2005 I ended up on the gulf coast helping out after Katrina. It was then; that exposure to the culture I grew up with that revived my fanship. Soon after they had a good run and ended up in the playoffs, and me and many friends gathered at the local bars and restuarants that showed the game on big screens to cheer them on. The feeling of being with so many people that are cheering for the same team... those friends... no, that family... there is no better feeling.

I'm forever a Saints fan. No matter what state. No matter how bad a year. They will always be my team.

GO SAINTS!!!! NFC Champions!!

I'm going for the Colts, simply because I CAN! But I think it'll be a pretty good game and I would be proud to see the Saints win since they have never been to the Super Bowl!!
