If your pro franchise leaves your locale it can be akin to your SO walking out on you for someone else to some people, especially die hard rabid fans. Did one of your favorite teams ever do this? If so, how did you and/or your family react? Did you and/or your family still support them, or hate them? In the case of the Dodgers, I have met quite a few Brooklyn Dodger fans that never forgave them and loathe them a half a century later.

Here are some (certainly not all) of the notable examples in two sports:

Colts leave Baltimore for Indianapolis
Browns leave Cleveland for Baltimore
Rams leave LA for St. Louis
Raiders leave Oakland for LA
Raiders leave LA for Oakland
Oilers leave Houston for Tennessee
Expos leave Montreal for Washington DC
Senators leave Washington DC for Texas
Senators leave Washington DC for Minnesota
Dodgers leave New York for LA
Giants leave New York for San Francisco
Pilots leave Seattle for Milwaukee
Braves leave Milwaukee for Atlanta

Even though I grew up in LA, I grew up a Baltimore Colts fan. When ownership changed in the sixties, the team went into a long slow slide. When Robert Irsay moved the team while they held the record for the most consecutive sellout to Indy, I divorced them.

I chose to go for my second favorite team, the 49ers. I was neutral and apathetic towards the Colts from then on for a long time.

You missed the Kansas City Kings leave for the Sacramento Kings

I am the type to pick a favorite team based on my location. So currently it is the Colts. If the Colts were to leave Indiana I would most likely still root for them but I think I would go with the Bengal as my new favorite.

I have not had that problem with the tieams I love. The Redskins would probably be my favorites regardless of location..(Family tradition) However if the Panthers left NC, I would have no reason to watch them or care how their season was going.

Sorry WoW... can't really comment since I'm not a big football fan. I can't even get excited about the tight asses in the tight uniforms. There must be something wrong with me - lol!

Cardinals to Phoenix from St Louis. Not a fan but that was all you heard around here for years! They were worse than no team at all. Still questionable, I think, but I really know nothing so I will keep my mouth shut.

Rams leave LA for St. Louis

And the St.Louis Cardinals left for AZ. I cried real tears over that one (my hometown team) but not when the Rams left Los Angeles (my "never adopted" team).

A few years ago befoere my Benglas got their new stadium, there was some talk about them moving to L.A. I would have still kept up with my Bengals if they had left for Los Angeles.
