The 2010 winter olympics are to start in Vancouver, Canada on Feb. 12, in a little over a month. How many of you are going to tune in for the games? What sporting event(s) are you interested in and most likely to watch?
I think I'm more interested in watching the womens figure skating event. Maybe watch some skiing events as well.
Bonus question
What event(s) would you be likely to participate in if you were an up and coming olympian for these olympics?
I would say for me it would be skiing and speed skating

I don't really pick and chose events. Just whatever is on when I'm in the mood to watch.

Well you have a dead month coming on the heels of the NFL, so I will probably watch the Olympics, mostly the skiing events. Then again it depends on TV time. The PGA will begin it's schedule in January.

Well you have a dead month coming on the heels of the NFL True. And it's right before March Madness. I'm more of a summer olympics kind of person, but I am looking forward to these winter olympics this year.

LOL.....absolutely, and the Track and Field events should be exciting as well. This year they're going to hold them outside in the snow adding an element of danger....lol.

You bet!!! I am looking forward to it.I love many sports and February is a void for me. For me, from my POV: football is over: MLB is not yet happening; the NHL, NBA, and collegiate basketball don't mean shit until the playoffs.
I am really looking forward to the Winter Olympics. There are wonderful athletes in sports that don't make money demonstrating their skills as the best in the business, best in the world. I will watch and be enthralled by it all.
Kudo, straddle, great post. I was going to ask the same question in a couple of weeks.

What event(s) would you be likely to participate in if you were an up and coming olympian for these olympics? Don't ask me why; but ski jump, luge, and bob sled.

The PGA will begin it's schedule in January. Sports are a selective thing to each person, of course. NASCAR begins in February, but that is on no interest to me any more than the PGA. February is simply a void month for this sports fan, three out of every four years with the exception of the Winter Olympics being an oasis in the desert.
Around here, there is usually this void between the time the Cowboys lose their last game of the season ( late December or early January) and the beginning of spring (mid February to early March) where everything is a dead zone.

So I take it you're not going to be watching then...lol You got it!
Got satellite tv...with all those channels, I'll find something entertaining. I was watching National Geographic earlier about scientists speculating on what life might be like on another planet. That was kind of interesting.

Don't ask me why; but ski jump I like the ski jumps! Entertaining to see them rocket down the slopes at 500mph and then see some of them crash and burn! But... that's just me!
I like watching the young ladies doing gymnastics during the Summer Olympics! Those cute little thangs doing things, that would put me in a full body cast for months!

But the winter olypmics are boring. We all have our point of view. But to me, there is such a diversity of events cut across gender lines to feel that there is something for everybody within them depending on individual preferences.
For me, it is the ultimate reality show. All of these athletes have given all that they can to be the best in their business. Their event often does not lead to any monetary reward beyond the pride of competing and representing their country. I cheer them all!!!

Can't wait to see the snowboarders... especially freestyle. It's exciting... also enjoy downhill skiing, jumping and the luge (my favorite). Plus I can stay warm while watching from the best seat in the house.

Figure Skating of course. And the Luge maybe even a little hockey thought I really dont understand it. Don't understand the lines and rules things like that. After that I will just wait for March Madness to turn on TV again.

What sporting event(s) are you interested in and most likely to watch? I like most of the events but my favorites are figure skating, downhill skiing and snowboarding.
What event(s) would you be likely to participate in if you were an up and coming olympian for these olympics? I've always thought it would be so cool to be a figure skater and be able to do all those fancy spins and jumps.

If they have a kiddy down hill I might do good at that or crash skating.
