I have given this some thought over the past 23 years, and for a long time it was for August 12 on whatever year. Not sure why that day popped into my mind back in 1984, but I still consider that day under consideration. It may have been the 1984 olympics held in Los Angeles that summer, and watching that day's event with all the super stars like Mary Decker (Slaney), Zola Budd, and Mary Lou Retton to where I had a great time and didn't want that particular summer to end. Over the last few years I have thought about adding April 4 and April 17 for a spring wedding (17 being my favorite number). We can even go with August 17, or October 17 (for a fall wedding). I'm sure women have thought more about this topic than most of us guys. Oh hell, I'm open to just about any date. The most important thing is you found that special person to spend the rest of your life with.
So everyone, what day would you want your wedding to take place on and why? For those who are already married, what day did you pick, and why did you pick that day?
Or are you the type that would go with a Valentines Day wedding?

I'm never getting married again! My first husband was a complete dick and I think I'm too set in my ways these days!
Kinda strange to see a man blog about this type of subject but kudos to you Shawn for it!!

IF I were to marry this year, which isn't going to happen, I would choose October 10th at 10:00 a.m. Why? Because it would be easy to remember the date and time: 10.10.2010 @ 10a.m. For any other year I would follow the same game plan... 11.11.2011 @ 11 a.m., 12.12.2012 @ 12 noon, etc.

ok I will give you a serious answer, May 1 of any year. The weather has warmed up and flowers are in bloom everywhere. Since I would want it to be outdoors that would be kind of important. Not looking for that to happen though. Have to find the guy first and don't see that happening anytime in the near future because of other things going on in my life.

12.12.2012 @ 12 noon, etc. Better make it a one hella nine day honeymoon then- 12/21/2012, is when catastrophic events begin to happen to the planet!

December 7th as it is easy to follow the script; you get bombed in the morning and go to war that afternoon.
Why some guy in his forties who has never been married with no immediate prospects for doing so would give this any thought is beyond me.

Better make it a one hella nine day honeymoon then- 12/21/2012, is when catastrophic events begin to happen to the planet! Hey, might as well make it the best nine days of our lives! I've survived torrential down pours and floods, hurricanes, an earthquake and a tsunami... so what's a few more cataclysmic experiences... plus you'll be able to say 'the earth really moved' - LOL!

My first marriage to the dickhead who abused me was in Nov. I forgot the date to be honest. Must be a reason for that. Current hubby, we got married on July 8 th 2005. I was pregnant with our daughter at the time. I wasn't planning and didn't want to get married again after the last one but he talked me into it. I told him it was either now or never. If we hadn't of done it then I am not sure I would have married again. BTW, his birthday is July 6 th so we got married after his birthday. He has told me that was one of his best birthday gifts, me agreeing to marry him. Yes, even now with me and my problems.

A wedding is just like a funeral except that you get to smell your own flowers. Grace Hansen
That being said, I'll pick February 29th, 2012 which is the next leap year and coincidentally, the year predicted to be the end of times. Either way, there goes life as I know it.

We went with the 3rd of July. Easy to remember and we always have a couple days off work for our anniversary.

o.k., I have to jump in this one to help the guys out, I would pick the day we started dating, so that way it might make it easier for him to remember, since they don't remember any other dates. And as for Valentines day, thats a no no everyone I knew that got married on that day got divoriced.

I agree with Akrongirl...a lot of times you chose the date of your first date...or the day you got engaged if you plan on being engaged for a year.
For me...I love the fall so I would choose September 25th or October 25th.
