So, here I was this morning, stuck inside what with 36 inches of snow, and bored of net surfing and the like. What to do? Well, why not make bread! Sounded like a good idea to me, so off to the pantry I went to get all the ingredients together for honey wheat bread. Uh Oh! Two bags of flour, both of them kind of old. Well, being a frugal Scot, I decided it was better to use them up rather than toss and replace...
Open the first bag. Full of huge flour weevels....yuk!
Open the second bag. tons of weevels in this bag, too!
Well, being the enterprising Scot I am, I decided to go with the second bag....always better to choose the lesser of two weevels!

And guess what girls....they're in everything like that that you eat...flour, pancake mix, cereals....ect. But unless the product is old you won't see them because they just haven't hatched out yet. Now how's that for TMI.....

they're in everything like that that you eat...flour, pancake mix, cereals....ect. OMG !! Thankfully I don't eat cereal, use much flour or eat pancakes.. Thinking now of what else they are in that I probally eat.. Shush.. Don't tell me.. LOL...Cause I know me, I won't eat !! Had a hard enough time getting over finding out what was in scrapple. As long as I don't know, I can eat it and I can't think about it or it grosses me out.

A little protein, is good for your diet! Besides, no one would know, unless you said something! Anyone want a slice of freshly baked bread??

The fact that those things (or their eggs) are in our food does NOT surprise me. To be honest, I don't care about that really. It's what in our meat that scares the shit out of me.

A little protein, is good for your diet! This is true!
Softie is right... bugs in flour, corn meal, pastas, cereals, etc. is common. You can prevent them hatching by keeping your flour in the frig. or the freezer if you do not use it very often. I've used flour, etc. with bugs in a pinch... pour it through a sifter or a fine mesh colander to separate the bugs from the flour. Note: I usaully do this outside in order to prevent the bugs from infesting any other foodstuff in the kitchen. Once you've cooked with the ingredient the heat kills any remaining eggs or bugs, therefore, no fuss, no muss AND no waste!
