As we head into the new year, we are all talking about our resolutions and how we "hope we can keep them".
It occurred to me, most of the resolutions we make involved giving up something, usually something we enjoy, even though it may not be good for us. And when we resolve to add things or do things, it is things that we know will be difficult to do.
No wonder we don't keep these resolutions! I don't know about y'all, but I hate giving up things, especially if I enjoy them. I'm sure if I made resolutions to give up things I dislike (like English peas and cantaloupe) and add things I love, I would have no trouble keeping everyone of them.
So, with that in mind, I made a new list of resolutions. I encourage everyone else to come up with their list of resolutions like this. Maybe this will be the year we can keep our resolutions!
In 2010, I resolve I will: 1. Get more massages. 2. Give more hugs. 3. Eat more of the foods I love. (I can't help the fact that Bing cherries, fresh peaches, chilled shrimp, and red wine and pepper jack cheese are actually kind of healthy.) 4. Spend more time wasting time with my son. 5. Go to more plays, concerts, parks, museums, galleries, etc. 6. Dance more. 7. Sing kareoke every chance I get. 8. Give genuine compliments and when someone does a good job, let them know it. 9. Spend more time with the ones I love. 10. Spoil myself a little more and refuse to feel guilty about it.
There ya go! Ten resolutions that I am pretty sure I can keep! Ah, the sweet smell of success!

Looks like a good list. 6,7 will give me a little static. So 6 try not to dance on other peoples feet. 7 Listen to others sing. I sound worse than a bullfrog. Thats how I get my kids to vanish, by singing, works like magic. The rest I can follow. Thanks for the list.

I'll probably get booed for this but I think of new year resolutions, like I do meeting up with a new lady- if I don't expect get'n any, I won't be disappointed, if I don't!
Using resolutions as guide lines, rather than absolute goals while in the 'spirit of things', keeps you from being disappointed if they're not met for what ever reason(s), your fault or not!! JMO
