really? I've made about 30 posts to threads since I've joined a couple of weeks ago. I would call that doing my part and making an effort. I'm not really sure what you're looking at or what else I need to do....I'm knocking when a thread turns into 2-3 people going back and forth on topics/inside jokes completely off track from the thread, which I think is a pretty valid criticism.

so far this isn't a very popular blog...lol...maybe it only annoys me...to each their own I guess. I appreciate everyone else's thoughts though.
And please don't interpret the blog as a put down to people who contribute on the site. I've just been going through some threads, and there were ones I wanted to contribute to but just felt i couldn't even jump in since 2 people already went off on some some crazy tangent that consisted of 10-15 posts back and forth.

Hijacked blogs are generally not inetentional. They rise from the ashes and seem to develop a life of their own. It's not till 20 posts later the realization sets in that the blog has been hijacked.
Please don't feel that you can never jump in and join the skirmish, it might be a great way to get the blog back on track.

I enjoy talking in the threads/forums...and there are only three of us regulars that have been on this jacked up site for over 3 yrs now. If someone comes into a thread that we are in, and they're polite and respectful and not being a jerk right off the bat..then by all means we engage them in a discussion. I admit we probably go off topic at times but it happens..what can I say?!

(next month, 10 years) Long before there were forums, or blogs for that matter. I'm not bitching about the playing in the forums, I don't play there much anymore but not because of the hijacking. You see Leonidas100, this used to be a fun site. You will find that it's much more than a "dating or sex site" per se. It's more of a community or family gathering. Many of us here are all good friends, we share each others ups and downs. We know about each others illnesses, hardships, career challenges, kids, grandkids etch. We've watched as some met, fell in love, moved cross the country and got married, or others that met, fell in lust and then found it just wasn't what they were looking for and for them the search continues. I really don't think the hijacking for the most part is meant to be offensive. It's always just been alot of good folks having fun, escaping the day to day bullshit that life can throw at you, while reaching out to each other in a fun flirty way. At the end of the day, many of us truly do care about each other so if you find the "inside jokes" offensive, rather than complaining about them, ask or just hang out for a bit and get acquainted, then someday you might be joining in on those "inside jokes" yourself.

3. To reiterate.."Dr.", I am pretty known on this site and blogosphere. As it was discussed, I told you that emotional display was out of passion. I don't NEED to swear to get my point across, but sometimes I communicate in a way that reaches people on here without isolating anyone. This is an old blog, but new to me. I just wanted to mention something real quick like. I have seen some threads (and blogs) get hijacked for an entirely utilitarian purpose. The the fora there is hardly a critical mass of posters so if a topic isn't popular it gets stale and dies (blogs usually have an even shorter life for different reasons), which is a dead horse thats been beaten back to life and back to death before). Sometimes (and this seems to be truer on the blog side) people will just start silly stupid side conversations because they don't have anything in particular to say on the subject but want to bump the thread up or keep it popular. If they didn't it and the fora, in general, wouldn't have enough activity to keep the conversation around until somebody had something related to say.

'aspiring', you are correct in your assessment. Totally utilaterian reasons for keeping this thread alive. Obviously it served no enlightened purpose and the blog itself, while having legitimate merits on it's own by the author posing a reasonable question, was hijacked by yours truly. And, the hijacking was done with the authors knowledge and to his credit, not his participation. The express purpose of kicking this dead horse was to prove to the author that hijacking a thread is actually hijacking a few individuals, at first. Then the thread/topic develops a life of it's own as the sharks smell the blood. The bet was could we get over 100 posts on a subject that has been hashed and rehashed merely by borrowing the small minds of certain members for a bit? Stupid and annoying as Leonidas posed? Absolutely! Did it answer his question? The results speak for itself. Leonidas is a recent addition to the site and a very intelligent individual and if he's half as smart as I beliieve him to be, would do well to distance himself from me.

Thanks for your thoughts Aspiringwriter...I created this blog when I first joined because I noticed many threads in the forums( many of them long-running on specific topics) get hijacked. You make some valid points which I wholeheartedly agree with. Your post was probably the first in about the last 80 that actually addresses the question I raised in my blog, lol.
But as Doctorcocktail/Lunegra have noted, my blog ironically became a textbook AMD hijacking, much to my enjoyment. Keep up the good work Doc. As much as some are very loathe to admit, you breathe life into the site. The best stories and movies always have a villian.
