The holiday season is the time for giving, regardless of what your religion, faith or belief may be.
So, IF you can afford it, I am asking as many as possible to grant a dying wish to this little 7 year old boy. It will cost you a Christmas card and a stamp. And maybe 5 minutes of your time.

There have been articles in a few papers around here and it's been talked about on the news It is an extremely sad, but true story.
If in doubt google his name. Even Snopes has an article about him.

This young boy is dying from brain cancer. He has had approx 17 surgeries and the cancer is growing at an increasing rate. There is nothing more they can do.
The doctors have told his parents this will most likely be his last Christmas.

As a parent,I can not begin to imagine the heart ache they must be going through. I pray I never will find out. My heart and prayers go out to all involved.

But this little boy, Nathan Elfrink, wants to get one million Christmas cards this year for Christmas.

Yes, I know there's not much time to get these sent out, but I believe we can. Mine is going out tomorrow morning.

So I am asking everyone who reads the blogs, how many do you think we can get to him?
How many people can you pass this on to that might also help?
Are you willing to try?

His name and address are:
Nathan Elfrink
2415 Taylor Blair Rd.
West Jefferson, Ohio
43162

Thank you...

Except, according to what I read, it is not Nathan's wish but his Mother's. Call me a skeptic but I suspect she anticipates some of those cards to have more than a greeting inside.

I know, I know..Scrooge the Skeptic,

Yes, DS, I did just read that.
She wants to put a smile on his face with all the cards and caring.
It was initially her idea, but according to the news, he is all excited about it.
So. I'm still asking, what can it hurt to send him a card with well wishes and maybe prayers. I'm not asking anyone to send anything else, and honestly I don't think anyone should.
But can you imagine how overwhelmed this little boy would be?
Can you imagine what a million cards would look like?

DS has a valid point, but there isn't any way to know for certain where the initial idea came from, what the true motivation is or how many will participate. However, I care about the little boy. If receiving cards, whether it's a million or not, from strangers who are thinking about him and wishing him the best can't hurt... and just might give him the best Christmas he will experience.

This is factual. However, the family has requested no more cards to be sent.

This message had not been posted yet when I wrote the blog. But DK is correct, the family has requested no more cards be sent.

Thank you to everyone that wrote saying they were going to send him one.

If you want to do something good anytime of the year, go to WishUponAHero.com
There are many people out there struggling who ask for all kinds of things ranging from cards for their loved ones or help with clothes or gift for their kids. It feels good to help others.
