Misguided fan's TV becomes hi-def targe
NEW ORLEANS -- A Louisiana man who bet against the New Orleans Saints has lost his 60-inch high-definition, flat-screen TV to a backyard firing squad, but he also became an Internet star.
Wayne A. Spring told his friends that if New Orleans beat the Washington Redskins on Sunday, anyone who wanted could come to his house and shoot his television.
"I was a Saints fan, but used to be they never could win, and I admit I was a fair-weather fan," Spring said yesterday. "So I just decided to go against the grain."
Things were looking good until the undefeated Saints tied the game and sent it into overtime.
Spring, a nurse who owns a medical staffing company, said as soon as the Saints kicked the winning field goal, his phone started ringing.
About a dozen Saints fans, toting firearms and a case of beer, showed up at his home in Albany, some 50 miles northwest of New Orleans, and shot up his TV in the backyard.
Spring put the video on YouTube and said it had had more than 145,000 hits in three days.
The shooting apparently didn't break any laws, "But I would say mixing booze and firearms is not a good thing," said Lt. Doug Cain of the Louisiana State Police. ********************************************

Heh... I saw the news clip about that! While that was an asinine bet because it was a relatively new TV, not to mention the absolute waste of a perfectly good product- I have to admit, I shot my ten year old 32" TV in my backyard over a year ago, after replacing it with my current flat screen! ! always wanted to do that! But at least, my old TV was busted!

ANYONE that beats the Redskins, is at least, my second favorite team
"mixing booze and firearms is not a good thing,"....Whatever. That's why one Govt. enforcer is called, 'Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms', can't have too much of a good thing.

Back in the early days of Monday Night Football with Howard Cosell and his co-horts, a bar charged $1 per chance. The winner would be drawn from all that had put their name in the pot. The winner had the honor of smashing the TV when Cosell first appeared each Monday night.

See? That's why I never bet on the Lions. Be my luck I'd bet they lose and the fools would win the game on me.
