Most of you know that I graduated nursing school in August of this year. The final step was taking the state board test for my license. Once the state verified the school records I was sent an authorization to test. I went to Lansing on Nov 6th, and checked in, what a procedure that was!! Showed ID, had photo taken, had fingerprints taken and palm prints as well then had to emptay all pockets, reove watch etc. All the damn body part scanning I was wondering if my ass was going to be next........LOL Anyway, it's a computer test and you ar asked random questions from any nursing topic with 4 multiple guess answers, some are math problems and you can only use an pencil and blank piece of paper which they give you or the calculator on the pc. The minimum number of questions is 75 the maximum is 285, the programs uses a formula to determine how you answered a question and if it was correct and moves on. It will stop anytion after you answer the minimum number of questions. You get 5 hours to take the test. I started at 8am and at 915am the computer logged me off after 75 questions. 2 days later I received an email and I logged into the testing website and got my results.......................I PASSED!!!!!! What a relief that was.
I received my license in the mail this week and took that to te hospital, where I am working as a graduate nurse on the heart unit. I am an official RN, so that means.....PAY RAISE!! Up $3 an hour. I also finished orientation this week and will be on my own now. Will start the night shift 7pm to 7am next Monday.
Thanks for all the mental support from my AMD friends. I can let the textbooks collect some dust and I can just focus on actual nursing now.

congratulations. If you ever think of doing psych nursing, we always need good nurses. Oh and for the record its the nurses who run our hospital, not the doctors.

Most of the nurses I've met are hardworking, kind and compassionate people. I had to have a liver biopsy and to say the least I was absolutely terrified..one of the nurses reached out and touched my arm in such a way that it calmed me down considerably..just to know there was someone in my corner was enough for me to get through the procedure. Congratulations on your noble career...

My ex sort of freaked when the computer shut off so quick on him...he thought for sure he was going to fail. This was back when you had to wait weeks to get your results back...he passed.
I personally know what a strenuous juggling act going to nursing school. Not only did you pass your licensure test, you survived school! Congratulations!
All those women you work with. Too much temptation?

Congratulations... all the hard work or tenacity has paid off. May you be the nurse we all dream of for ourselves as well as our families and friends. Compassionate and informed nurses are worth their weight in gold! Your accomplishment is worth more than a greenie, but that's what there is available today!

You can have all my Greenies for this one. Congratulations on your success.
With as much health care as my husband receives I see a lot more male nurses than I used to and I have to tell you that so far I find them caring and compassionate. May you be the same.
Good luck to you.
