Wow!! This year seems to have flown by. Christmas stuff is already out, one of the local radio stations here in Saginaw is playing Christmas songs 24/7 till the holidays are over. Ok, don't get me wrong, I like Christmas songs, but not 24/7. I like my other music too.
No, this is not a "what are you thankful for" blog. That was done just recently..so if there is anything anyone is thankful for...I think L4E did that blog..so look it up. Instead, I'm just reflecting on how fast the year has gone by. Next week is Thanksgiving. I'll be working Thanksgiving day, but, hey, I'm getting holiday pay, and that will be nice to have a little extra $$$ in the check. Then after that, Christmas shopping goes into full swing. Well, retailers I'm sure are praying that it will be "full swing". Times are so hard on everyone, and it shows. We're not spending. For most of us, it's because we don't have the $ to spend. We have mortgages to pay, food to buy, utilities etc. One thing in my childhood I learned from my Grandparents on my Dad's side was you don't necessarily need a lot of money to give gifts. What you need is a lot of yourself into the gifts. Meaning, you can buy something cheap, and with materials around the house, you can make that cheap toy, knick knack, picture frame etc...something of value that no money in the world can buy. I kid around a lot about how I'll be doing my Christmas shopping on my employers dollar..which, btw, this year, I will be doing. But, those items I buy in the gift shop, I bring home and add my own touches to them. And I'm sure there are those who will know what I'm saying when I say I have a 13 yr old nephew who is HARD to shop for. OMG he is a finicky brat! (I say that affectionately btw. ) But, he knows times are tough, so he keeps his comments to a minimum.
I was thinking about decorating for Christmas this week, but I look at the 2 younger cats running around here, they are only a little over a year old, and I already know putting up anything will have those little buggers thinking they have struck gold with toys. I have enough fun keeping them out of the patio curtains.
Anyway, I want to wish everyone and early Happy Thanksgiving.

What you need is a lot of yourself into the gifts. I'd like to think I've always done this. My family always tells me they look forward to seeing what Christmas ornaments I am going to make the kids (mine, nieces, nephews, etc.) and what other things I am going to make as gifts. A few years back I sort of started a tradition of making matching sleep pants for the family. They are so loved and looked forward to that I now make everyone 2 pairs. My son-in-law gets excited around October because he really looks forward to his pants. Even his family is a little envious of his pants.
As for my friends, I usually make up cookies or loaves of bread as gifts. It is not about being extravagant but about letting them know that they are thought of and important to me.
I love receiving heart-felt, handmade gifts.

Happy early Thanksgiving to you also ! Not even totally ready for it yet, let alone Christmas. Gotta love when your family changes plans on you at the last minute and you have to get more food and cook more. * HUGE SIGH *
If I get through this with no stress I am good to go.

The holiday spirit hasn't hit me yet, but I know what I'll be doing for a few family members and friends for Christmas... I'm creating photo books from our last family reunion and making chocolate truffles for the chocoholics. I can't bake bread, cookies or brownies this year because the oven is on the fritz... and I'm not springing for a new range since it isn't my house.
I don't have anything to do for Thanksgiving this year except show up which is great since I've had my fill of planning and preparing our family gatherings for so many years. I'm looking forward to it!

Wow!! This year seems to have flown by. Poisonally, I think the Earth has moved closer to the Sun somewhat- which means it's travel around the Sun, has sped up because of it being closer- which makes our year shorter! But, that's just my own theory!

The Earth moved closer to the Sun? Guess that explains it.

I will buy a turkey leg...stuff to make oyster dressing...some kind of veggie and something for dessert...maybe make date pudding and I'll probably be one of the very few running wild through AMD....I should pretty much have the place to myself so wanna fucks will be pretty futile...as usual.
Just a deliciously quiet day of Hallmark movies overload, food, roaming the empty halls of Pervia and who knows...maybe have to fire up the...... nevermind....

Well if I didn't have to work this day I would be watching Tanksgiving on the military channel & yes I didn't misspell it because it's an all day thing about tanks which was my military occupation. Thanks for the wishes.
