I hate talking about Christmas this early in the year. It's not even Thanksgiving yet. I just had my birthday last week. My parents asked me what I wanted, and I said "nothing." They got me stuff anyway. There are all sorts of reasons why I don't want anything for Christmas either. For one, I don't need any more stuff. I already have more stuff than I know what to do with. Besides that, I don't even like the idea that having more things could make me happier. I may not know a lot, but I know that's not how happiness works. Also, Christmas is a religious holiday. As an atheist, it seems wrong for me ask people to give me stuff to celebrate the birth of someone I don't believe ever existed. And lasty, my parents have done enough for me already. They've already given me so much in my life, they don't need to prove that they care about me by buying me toys for Christmas. Despite all of that, I'm going to make the list of things I want, since I know they'll insist of getting me gifts. If I'm going to get gifts, they might as well be things that I want. So, without further ado, here's my list of things I want for Christmas this year:

1. Nice enough weather to play soccer every day I'm off of school

2. A kiss from a pretty girl

3. My mom not stressing out about spending time with our relatives

4. A party with everyone who's my friend and nobody who isn't

5. World peace

6. Hugs from everyone I love

7. A day without anyone in my family fighting

8. Happiness

9. Health for my family for the rest of the year

10. To get to sleep in as late as I want

man, i agree with you about that....i dont want anymore stuff either!

each year i buy each of my grands a christmas orament for their tree. and thats all i buy them,...no junk no toys, no clothes....none of that shit that they already have to much of! I usually try to catch them at a 1/2 price sale, but usually spend around 15 -20 for them...so they are pretty nice ones.

i have 4 grands in two house holds, so each family has two trees, the family tree and the kid tree....on each kid tree, the oraments that they have recieved from me in years past, and they love it....oh i got this one the year my soccer team won the season, oh heres one like my ballet shoes....here a orament like my dog...

and each mom always takes time to make sure the oraments from me are stored very safely.

i plan to contunue to do this as long as i am able....i would love to have dozens of christmas oraments that my granny selected for me.

Beyond, that it is a season of family, loved ones, giving and sharing. May I suggest that you accept their generosity and pass it on by requesting gift cards that you in turn regift to charities of your choice. Perhaps use the cards to buy groceries that you can donate to your local food bank. Just my nickel minus two pennies,

I like your list...very thoughtful and real desires of the heart.

I haven't done the gift thingy for years. One, I can't afford it and (2...once I stopped the franticness of gifting I found out what a peaceful time the Christmas season is.

I even stopped going to family get togethers...that would seem horrible to some people but it works for me. Just a quiet Christmas day spend however I like...that's my gift to me.

Regardless of your seasonal feelings, that is by far the best Wish List I have seen in a long time.

May the pretty girls be lining up to give you a kiss.

I like your list...and the idea of giving it to your family when they ask what you would like. If they are insistent on giving you gifts, I somewhat like what WoW is suggesting...a gift to United Way, the Salvation Army, Red Cross or a charity of your choosing is a nice way for your loved ones do enjoying giving you something to show their love of you...and for others to benefit from it. Most of us want to give gifts because we want the other person know that we are thinking of them and that they matter to us. We don't do it as an obligation or for the other person to have more stuff. We want the gift to be something the receiver is going to enjoy.

Oh! I just thought...maybe tell everyone that asks that you'd like a new soccer ball and donate all of them to a local school or boys & girls club. A nice way to share something important to you.

I like that idea Bruce. I have an Atheist friend who "celebrates" Christmas with his family, he calls it a "social" holiday and doesn't acknowledge the religious aspect either. Its just a reason to get your belly full, hang with friends and relatives and give as well as get. I havent really did the Xmas thing since my mom became a JW, not because I'm onboard with her beliefs, just that everyone became indifferent, coupled with the fact that Xmas is expensive and were broke. My sister's kids are the only ones who get presents nowadays, and I might exchange gifts with one or 2 friends.
