Today i finally got the hugesnet satellite installed. my brother was here, and i was at a doctors appointment, but it got done. i have run some quick speed tests just to see how they compare, and this is definitely faster. coincidentally, the installer had worked for wildblue before and said the complaints i voiced were common, even years ago. so my advice to anyone who is considering satellite internet, avoid wildblue. i don't know if viasat, the company that took them over will be any better, but they wont be running it fully till sometime in 2011. i wasn't about to wait that long to find out if they are or are any better.

also, the csar i told today that i was pulling the plug on wildblue would not let me expalin why, but kept trying to feed me a load of smoke and bullshit, would not let me say what i was trying and needless to say he lit my very short fuse. at least twice i had to shout and tell him to SHUT UP. SO, WILLDBLUE, TAKE A FLYING FUCK AND I HOPE YOU GO COMPLETELY OUT OF BUSINESS.

I had the same nonsense with the cable company when I got tired of their constant b.s. Don't want to help you worth a damn until you make the call telling them you're canceling their service. Then they want to offer all sorts of money saving deals to keep you.

It's truly disgusting the way customer service has all but
vanished without a trace. There are almost nothing left but
LAZY, GREEDY, RUDE, nameless, faceless entities
communicating via recorded messages or hopelessly
ignorant and woefully incompetent peons on the other
end of a phone somewhere and all they fucking care
about is getting your credit card number so they can
vacuum your "automatic" payment into their fat accounts.

I'm serious, it's fucking sickening. Let me know what
Hughes is like, I get ads from them all the time and I

have certainly considered it.

Sometimes you can play that to your advantage by bluffing them into thinking that you are going to cancel something. I have done it with the Verizon and credit cards, though in the current environment I don't think it would work with credit cards.

Please let us know how Hughes Net works out, especially during any thunderstorms.

ok, as time goes by i will leave an update about hughes, but the installer did tell my brother that they don't have anyway near the trouble that wild blue has. will just have to wait and see. the person i talked to initially at hughes tho did tell me it takes a very very large storm to kick their system off line. i expect with a strong enough signal, which we do have here, most thunderstorms or at least thunder showers will be affected to some point, but not knocked out completely. but if you stop and think, a sever thunderstorm will have clouds that run up to 60 thousand feet and higher, the amount of static electricity that is being generated, and the precipitation that comes out of them, not many space borne signals have the power to punch thru all that. even nasa looses signals during sever weather. their saving grtace is that they have more than one point to send and receive

like i've said before, no system is going to be perfect all the time. things can happen, and do. just don't feed me a line of bullshit about it when i call to see what the problem is. .that is what really got to me with wild blue. no one admitted, that the system was overloaded, or or said anything about possible maintenance or upgrading of the system. just smoke and bullshit. just to reboot the modem and wait for it to connect again. so, have fun ya'll, and if you are thinking of switching to another internet sevice, make sure it isn't wildblue. you know how much you can afford, and what your situation is, check out the other possibilities and see which best fits your wallet and needs. don't let a salesperson convince you that theirs is the best, make your own decision.
