Not getting what you pay for

Dear Wild Blue,
Tonight I was researching something of importance to me, and again on a perfectly clear night, my internet connection was lost. Under conditions where the clouds might be 30,000 feet thick, and a lot of violent activity, I can see loosing the connection. BUT, this has been an all too frequent occurrence of late. Some days we are without internet for a couple of hours, many we are out most of the day. It may last from a few minutes to OVER 6 HOURS AT A TIME. And this is not just an occasional situation, but every day, and it happens more than once.

I AM TIRED OF PAYING FOR SLOPPY SERVICE. You as a company are entitled to make a profit. That I don't begrudge you. What I do have issue with is that I pay and get less than I am paying for. With no reduction in my bill for the loss of service.

I have called customer support on many occasions, and seldom has the one suggestion they have had done any good. I can not count the times I have unplugged and rebooted the modem. The problem isn't with the equipment, it is with your service.

So, on November 2, I am pulling the plug on you. I have fulfilled the contract, 18 months, and will be going with Hughes. They certainly can't be any worse than you are.

The only thing that bothers me about satellite (Hughes) is that it is affected by the weather so I've read anyway). My cable company is doing ok where I'm at now but, that wasn't the case where I used to live! Sometimes it would be out for 2 or 3 days! Now on occasion, some channels will begin to pixelate and when that happens, I know those channels will eventually freeze for a while! I do use cable for my TV and the internet! When it works, it works great but when it doesn't, it can be a real freak'n pain!

Good luck with your satellite set up and let us know how it goes- some inquiring minds will want to know!

yes, heavy thunderstorms can knock it off for a while. and we have dish tv, so sometimes it goes south as well. but when you live so far out there is no cable and no dsl, it is the only option. dial up is too slow, and every where from here is a toll call.

one other thing, speeds on any system can be affected by the number of users, the more there are, the slower it goes. period. cable in your area may not be much affected by this, but it can be so be aware of it.

This makes me happy I have FIOS through Verizon. I hated the DSL ,dial up and cable sucked. They kept turning us off when they " thought " we had any kind of virus or malware. PFFTTTT.. My husband knows more then they do when it comes to making our internet safe and free from that crap. Matter of fact I found it funny the other day, I was having problems with our wireless that comes with the FIOS, on my lap top.. Called Verizon and they wouldn't reset anything because the guy told me my husband had it set to be so secure he didn't want to mess with it !! So I called hubby and he fixed it from work lol.

I have never ONCE heard anything good about satellite internet.

Sorta like I've heard nothing but horror stories about American
car dealerships. Gee, what a big fat fucking surprise that two
of the three went bankrupt when consumer reports rated all the
major auto companies last year for quality and reliability and the
Big Three were...DEAD FUCKING LAST. Consumers don't
appreciate being robbed of their hard earned dollars and they

certainly won't hesitate to let each other know if nothing else.

Same here. The main complaint is that it is very intermittent and unreliable. In stormy weather people compared it to the problems people experience with satellite TV eight to ten years ago concerning signal loss.

One thing you can do with your satellite dishes is to clean them
and then apply a spray waterproofing...
Or an oil coating that won't wash off.
Worked for me when I had DirectTV..
