Have you ever found yourself eagerly anticipating an event for weeks and then found yourself dreading it the more time passed? An event that could change your life for the better but, when it is just days away, you find yourself not wanting it to happen? An event that even if it doesn’t work out the way you planned/hoped it still won’t be bad…just another disappointment in a life filled with disappointment… Does anyone else ever go through this?

Oh yeah! Got one of those events coming up in a couple weeks. It could change things for the better, it could be all I ever hoped for, or it could be just one more disappointment. Hopefully yours will be great! (((hugs)))

You're just nervous D.... I know things will go great for you and him!! If you guys have been completely honest with each about everything, there shouldn't be a problem... don't let nerves make you back out of going! And hey, you're going to a beautiful state to see the man of your dreams! I just know it will be a good thing for you! You deserve it hon.... don't second guess yourself please! You're beautiful, smart and funny! Any man would be proud to have you by his side!! I have a feeling you might need a xanax for your trip and the initial meeting, just to relax you! Don't you think of backing out! and don't be setting yourself up for a disappointment that probably won't happen!! Keeping my fingers crossed for you as i'm sure everyone else here is too!!

Maybe it is just me, but I am having difficulty in unravelling the riddle to figure out exactly what you are talking about.

Judging from what PTN said in her comment, sounds like you're getting ready to meet someone. That is so great! I think most of us can understand the nerves, the jumpy stomache.

All I'm going to say is I hope you two have a wonderful time.

I am having difficulty in unravelling the riddle to figure out exactly what you are talking about.

I'm not talking about EXACTLY anything....just wondering if others have found themselves really looking forward to ANY event and then, the closer it got to happening, the less they wanted it to happen. Sort of like a kid looks forward to Christmas and then changes his mind about it the week before... (yeah, like that ever happens! LOL)

.just wondering if others have found themselves really looking forward to ANY event and then, the closer it got to happening, the less they wanted it to happen.

Oh yes, I've had that happen. I remember being so excited about commencement night when I was graduating from high school. Both of my parents dropped out of high school, and here I was, their first born, graduating. I was so excited for that reason, and, of course that I made it!! The closer it came, the more my stomache knotted up on me. I remember sitting out there on the school track field while the assistant principal, (who's "list" I had been on for my entire high school years. ), was reading off name, the closer to my name he got, the more I could feel that knot growing. I about jumped out of my skin when he did announce my name. And when I got up to the stage to get my diploma, the look on his face was one of....if he had his way, he wouldn't have given it to me. Well, at that moment, my smart assed nature took over, and I told him to think just how relaxed he was going to be now that I'm going to be out of his school. Oh yeah, the look he got then was PRICELESS. Funny thing...after that, that knot in my stomache was gone.

yep! and I have always talked myself out of it at the last moment
I'm with her!!!
I have Talked myself out of Many different things!!! Relationships..Meeting someone from here and other sites, Jobs..that were far away!! Etc....
We/I tend to over think things.....!!! (I think!)
I know this is a lil off topic..but its all tied together!!! But....Even now that I have found someone to "Get to Know"...I can see that I was a Little Gun Shy at 1st.........Kinda waiting for something to Happen..and the Bad part she was Also!!!!
But I/We Now....are just taking things from Day to Day......seeing where it goes!!! (the best we can!! )
Personally..I think that comes with the Latter part of Your Post!!!
An event that even if it doesn’t work out the way you planned/hoped it still won’t be bad…just another disappointment in a life filled with disappointment…
I think that "Some" of us...Let the Past..fuck up our Future!!!
When will we Learn? My 2 cents!!!

I get those feelings about things, but then just say what the hell and go jump in the deep end anyway. If you talk yourself out of things you will miss out on life's greatest adventures. Usually things you are dreading are not half as bad as you think and resulting adventures are much better that you ever thought.

Yep...I can totally relate because this happens to me all the time. I just chalk it up to nerves...and me getting a bit older and set in my ways. Oh no...I can't believe I just say that!

Not really...I just take one day at a time and don't worry about the future...

You're not gonna' change it by worrying..

All the time sugarplum.. I've even taken a pass on something when the feeling got too difficult to dismiss as just nerves. I think it's perfectly natural.. we hype ourselves out at first.. then we start with the worrying.. will I be good enuff.. will they? Will I regret it.. well hell no.. never regret baby love.. there's no reason to regret.. even if it doesn't turn out the way you are both hoping.. it's still gonna be an experience you haven't had before.. Go for the ride.. the view.. and anything else is gravy!

Yep I know exactly what you mean................but the problem is we tend to plan the outcome and when it doesn't materialize in the fashion we had hoped we are disappointed............something I have had to learn...........I make plans but I don't plan the outcome..................for instance........I am meeting for the first time that I have met online...........it builds and I make the plan to meet him........plan what i will wear, what we will do whatever..............BUT when it comes to me planning this is the one, or we are going to be so happy.......ect ect..........I just don't do it...........I just hope for the best and realize whatever happens was meant to happen........than i havent build somethign up so big that I will be disappointed no matter what happens............

Hope that makes sense to you...........

Yes it sounds like the normal nerves and anxiety. Most of us get them in similar situations. Usually the mind races with many possible scenarios. Should I go or should I not starts coming on the mind.
