I'm feeling a little nervous right now. Three weeks ago in his first JV game my freshman son took a helmet to the knee. Original assesme nt was a torn ACL. After waiting a week for the swelling to go we finally got a chance for a specialist to see him.

The specialist said as far as he could tell the ACL was fine. We took some x-rays and they looked good. So to make sure it wasn't the meniscus we scheduled a MRI. The MRI was yesterday. Today we go in to find out the results of the MRI. I must admit that the closer that the time comes the more nervous I'm getting.

I'm not looking for any responses, I just wanted to see if writing about might make me feel better.

You always hate to see that particularly when it is an adolescent. However, any surgery is much less radical then when we were his age.

I tore my ACL about 10 years ago and it healed just fine. And Bruce is right, they are even better at this stuff now. He'll be just fine.

As long as he can get good treatment it will heal up well.. so make sure he gets the best treatment you can. I know cuz mine was untreated and it still hurts 5 years later.

Football is such a rough sport. The body really takes a lickin. I am sure you are proud of him for participating. Kids these days don't get the exercise we did. I am sure he will be fine. Sounds like you have excellent caregivers for him. Dmbchick sounds like she has seen this alot where she works and she also sounds reassuring. I hope all will be well. Let us know. Hugs, M

I'm praying for you and your son Prophet.

Don't get too nervous, not yet. See what the MRI says and go from there. I understand how aweful it is to worry about our children, so my good vibes are going out to you!!
