Friday night I got a call from my son telling me that I needed to go with him because they were taking my granddaughter to Two Rivers for an assessment. He told me that my granddaughter was getting out of control and threatened to cut herself again. We got home about three this morning.

When I got home, I went to bed but my mind was still working. So I got up and made Oatmeal raisin cookies but that did not help. I had some extra strawberries so I made some Paris Brest ( not I did not misspell Brest! All that baking did not seem to help so I made a batch of cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, and some regular yeast rolls. When I was kneading the dough I kept thinking of where I might have gone wrong as a grandmother.

Oh by the way, all that baking and all I have now is a counter full of desserts and no answers. I hope her granddaughter gets the help she needs and maybe she might want to talk to someone also.

I agree with She-Wolf. This looks more like someone very upset and her mind is pre-occupied with they tragedy her family is dealing with. Repeating oneself is common in situations such as this seems to be.

Linda318, It is not your fault I doubt seriously you or your son's family is entirely at fault if at all. These things have more to do with external issues and things caused by the person making the threats. You son may not even know what is causing this. Other possibilities could be drug, mental illness or other issues. The entire family needs some good professional help in these cases including yourself even if only to help you understand anything about it. I strongly urge you to see an good therapist as soon as possible.

The 'jury' is still out on this blog for me... I keep leaning one way then another but I always come back to this: and I don't mean to sound rude or unconcerned but-

It's one thing to verbally repeat yourself and quite another to textually repeat yourself in my mind- that takes some effort to do- know what I mean? I do not have a degree in psychology so, I'm not so ready to make a quick decision, as to whether or not this is an unbalanced blog statement or not! Just an observation and my opinion!

Children who cut don't always have a family problem to blame. Sometimes it's things that happen in their peer groups. I'd be more concerned that she is hanging with a crowd that is mistreating her, or that she is not accepted among her peers.

If I might make a trite suggestion? Invite her over for some of those home baked goodies and spend some time talking with her about what's eating her. Or even better.. involve her in baking some more goodies and let her get to spend time just doing things with you. It may make a huge difference in her life. She's crying out for help. Reach out to her. Don't just worry.. involve her in your life.

Went thru pretty much the same thing only with my step son last night. We're all home now and things are ok.

The blog was cut/pasted from somewhere else...if she was just repeating herself it wouldn't be typed verbatim.
