Fertility clinic accidentally implants wrong embryo posted 9/23/2009 12:02:54 PM | 1 kudo what's this?     report abuse tagged: news   dmbchick420 This is a story about a local couple in my town that has made national news. The woman is pregnant with another couple's child due to a fertility clinic accidentally implanting another couple's embryo. She plans to have a C-section in a couple weeks and is prepared to give the baby to the biological parents. Abortion was never an option because of their religious beliefs. They plan on using the last of their remaining frozen embryos once this baby is born, but a surrogate mother will have to carry the baby, as she was told this is her final pregnancy. You can read the full story here. I can't even imagine having to carry a baby that isn't even yours and then having to give it away. How horrible!!! I see a lawsuit in someone's future! 	Wow......what a hellava mixup........I can't imagine carrying a baby to term just to hand over to someone else..........whether there was a mix up or not........but I guess I can see their point of view...........i wonder how many other "accidental mixups" have occurred there........

	That is horrible!!! I couldn't even imagine how any of those involved must be feeling. I would be surprised if there isn't a lawsuit.

	Wonder what would happen if the woman carrying the baby changed her mind when the baby is born. Maybe that place needs to be closed down until they can get a new staff.

	Oh my how awful!! Especially beings she cannot carry another child!! Even worse. Just wondering was it mandatory that she give over the baby once it is born, or is that her choice? Sorry I didn't read the full story, but was just curious.

	Maybe the ther mother will kindly carry her child for her since she did it for them...or is that adding more crazyness to the situation? What a story. I can't imagine how I would feel. Is this an unforgivable mistake?

	Just wondering was it mandatory that she give over the baby once it is born, or is that her choice? From what I read and heard on the news, it sounds like they decided to give the baby to the biological parents on their own. I didn't hear anything about it being mandatory.

	I heard that on the news this morning. I was amazed that the woman was going to give the baby to the biological parents. But, I guess, they also know how difficult it is to conceive a child...to me it feels like the right thing to do but it must have been an extremely difficult decision to make.

	How the hell does a clinic like that not have triple, or quadruple fail safe procedures to make sure something like this does not happen? Inexcusable.

	I'm so proud of them for having that baby and giving it to the right couple. They understand how hard it is to concieve and they are doing the right thing.

	WAit.. if that's the case why not impregnate the other couple with her embryo and they can return the favor? Or would that be too easy?

	I listened to this story on an NBC station yesterday morning and they said it was mandatory for the couple to give the baby up. I've been bitching about this for two days, still watching the news trying to find out all the details of it all. I have a lot of questions about this and how it could happen and why there isn't law suits galore happening as we speak, but I'd just about bet that the clinic has to pay a gestation carrier as the Pregnant mom called it on NBC news for the couple that is actually having the baby. I'd like to know why both couples aren't suing the hell out of the clinic. One for them inplanting the wrong embryo in the wrong woman, two for making her give the baby back, three what if the couple not pregnant wasn't ready for another baby, do they have to take it? Is the clinic supplying money to them to help support the unwanted child? Are they gonna pay college? I have a lot more questions, but my answer is already longer than the blog it came from so I guess I'll stop asking. lol Sorry.
