I want to be up front and admit that I am a Republican. Yep, sorry, thats just me. I don't want or need the government to provide one thing more than is needed for our common defense against all enemies foriegn and Domestic, pick up the trash twice a week, maintain a strong vibrant Currency and basically let me make a living through the sweat of my brow, and keep what I've earned.
So I almost drove off the road yesterday, when the Radio talking head read through some of the provisions for the new Health Care plan we are all about to be subjected to. He said that basically it is the DUTY of the wealthy to provide for the basic needs of the poor. That any civilazation can be measured by the way that the HAVES, provide for the HAVE-NOTS. That he interputed the langauge in the bill to add a 3% additional burden on each American in the form of additional income taxes.
Excuse me.
No one was there for me when I worked two jobs, and went to Colledge part time. I wasn't dirt poor, but I do remember living on boil in the bag rice, with butter salt and pepper as a staple for my diet for weeks sometimes. There was no Government plan to provide me with assistance. A measure of the income from those jobs disqualified me from many "give-away" programs. Eventually I finished school, took my degree and started at the bottom with a Major corporation, and through attrition and good luck, with a little talent thrown in, clawed my way up the corporate ladder.
Like many of you I got where I am through Hard work, Education and effort. Now according to the Bleeding heart Liberals, I have "an obligation" to help those less fortunate. Fuck Them! They want to sit at home playing X-Box, and lighting up a dubbie, making kids like they were the building blocks for a new temple, forget that! Now I need to give more so that they can have more. More what? Reefer? Grand Auto V for X-Box? SCREW THEM.
You want to own someting nice? Get off you ass, turn off the tube, find a job, develope a skill and get to work...
"Oh sir, if it were only so easy to do, you people have all the advantages, you are asking me to play on a slanted field, where I can't compete"
Then "Unslant the field", get an education, start a legitimate business, work your hobby into a job. Yes I said it the terrible "J" word. JOB. Your mama isn't here anymore, you need to take responsibility for yourself. Grow up, Shut up, turn off that fucking Rap music, learn how to speak the english langauge, enroll in a community college, and get busy.
After you have done that, and IF you have made something with your own two hands, then turn back to the people who are as you were and see if they deserve a piece of your success. If so hand it out to them if you feel thats YOUR calling. I have no such plan. I make it I keep it end of story.

Dating has taken on new and different meaning to me, and I though that it was worth mentioning. Whenwe all started dating we were driven (to a great extent) by hormones. Time ad life eperience has taught me that a good piece of ass may be satisfying for today, but in the long term I need so much more.
Hobbies, common interests, like goals and great conversations become far more important as you begin to see the first of the your second half century. We reach a time when our kids have grown and gone. we have the house to ourselves, and the quiet that once was such a big problem is now like an old friend. Where we once cold not wait for our friday night date, and an oppertunity to get "Lucky" is replaced be the desire to have a conversation with someone who can share something about life that we have missed. Dating becomes more Mental than Physical. I actually think I like this better.

Sex. A single word that points to our great desire for physical intimacy, and atthe same time seperates us so completely by our genders. "Hot freaky circus sex" is best for the young, to explore and to relish. One day they may realize that the world isn't all about "them" and meeting thier immediate needs. Maybe it's more about giving something, of yourself, to someone.

Ok, well I've been up for 28 hours straight now. Bed time is here.

That is well put. It is too bad the two disparate themes were combined though. There are a lot of people that would have enjoyed reading about your astute observations on changes in relationships once the kids are gone. Unfortunately, a lot of people are turned off by political blogs, especially rants. Consequently, many will blow this blog off before they get to the good part. Hopefully, you will consider expanding on the theme in a separate post.

First of all....being one of the "working poor", I do not ask for handouts from the Government, and do not want them. I bust my ass working, and it riles me knowing that those taxes taken out of my check in part go to pay for those who do not want to work. I'll earn my own way, enough said.

That is so true. Dating when I was younger...yeah, driven by hormones. I admit it. Why deny it? Now, I look to see if there are common interests, yet differences, need something to talk about..right? And a friendly debate can be fun too. Amazing how one goes from wanting instant gratification to wanting that AND a best friend all rolled into one.

I'd probably pay more attention to a Republican with a college, not colledge, education who has clawed his way to the top...
If only this highly educated person could spell simple words!
Check Factcheck.org or Snopes.com to find out the facts, not fiction..

I would agree with you on the education doc if he missed spelled it every time but one type-o isn't enough for me to call him out.

I agree I see too many people milking the system for everything they can. I worked 2 full time and a part time job until I found one that I could make enough at even though I was still working 12-15 hour days, but I took nothing from the Government.

Oh good gawd...
Thus starts another long, drawn out, name calling, mud throwing, shit slinging Political blog trend from half the members....

While I sympathize with your feelings, and stand up for your right to blog what ya want to, especially rants, I am good at them too
ya shouldn't have mentioned your political side....

I have been hesitating to comment on this, as I don't usually like to comment on political blogs, but.....

I do agree with a lot of what you are saying. Lazy bums need to get off their asses and get an education and/or job to support themselves instead of the taxpayers; however, there are a lot of young people that have jobs that cannot get insurance through their employers because it isn't offered and then there are people that just simply cannot afford the health care that is offered through their employment. Even people that do have health insurance will get more stability.

Why We Need Health Care Reform

“Our nation is now engaged in a great debate about the future of health care in America. And over the past few weeks, much of the media attention has been focused on the loudest voices. What we haven’t heard are the voices of the millions upon millions of Americans who quietly struggle every day with a system that often works better for the health-insurance companies than it does for them.”

I agree that something needs to be done about health care but more importantly about the way that insurance companies are ripping people off. I have a family member that is an RN. She has worked her ass off and at one point was even a CEO for a large hospital. She burned out fairly quickly on that one and went back to being an RN. She has been with the same hospital for about 25 years. She is now classified as a nurse manager. She is in charge of all the nurses in 8 different sections of the hospital including critical care. Critical care is her expertise. Just about a month ago she had to break the news to everyone that although they have done a superior job this past year they will not be getting raises. The hospital she works for will NOT turn anyone away with or without insurance and because of this they have lost over 2 million dollars this year to uninsured people. I commend the hospital for not turning anyone away but they can't go on for very long with loses such as this. I think it is damn time to quit thinking in terms of democrat or republican and think in terms of American people and forget about all the political bullshit and get something done. If one of these paid political bastards had anyone turned away because they didn't have insurance they would sure as hell get something done then wouldn't they? I have never had a hospital ask me if I was democrat or republican before they checked me out. Oh but wait!!! These SOB's get their insurance paid for by the American people for the rest of their lives so they don't have to worry about it. It's time to drop the jack ass and the elephant and come together as Americans and get something done. It's like a bunch of little kids on the floor of The House and The Senate. The jack asses will veto a bill from the elephants just because an elephant didn't think of it first and visa versa. It's sad that people can't get the health care they need and some people even dying because of all the SOB's in Washington. That's just my worthless opinion.

I think it is damn time to quit thinking in terms of democrat or republican and think in terms of American people and forget about all the political bullshit and get something done.

And now you understand why, I personally have decided to disavow politics and politicians and include a disclaimer at the top of any blog I write bringing up 'issues' our citizens need to know about!

Politics and politicians is our dirty, very dirty nemesis we have to live with everyday- unfortunately! You could stand them next to a huge pile of cow shit and the cow shit will always smell better!

I want to be right up front and admit that I'm a decent human being. Yep, sorry, that's just me. I don't want or need to watch sick people die because they were laid off and lost their health insurance, or because their employer for whatever reason doesn't or can't provide it, or because they have a pre-existing condition and insurance companies won't take them.

On another note, I think dating that is more mental is good too. At least, as long as you can get all sweaty now and then too. See, we agree on that.

Many things well said and I for one am more conservative than republican or at least the one that say they are in congress today. It's too bad that those same individuals that are talked about in the opening blog comment are the same ones who vote for the same idiots each and every election and believe each spoonful of crap they are given rather than look into both sides themselves. They can be voted out as easy as they were voted in if people paid attention. All of us that work hard weather you have a degree or not and do not use the handouts pay for those that choose to sit on their butts and do nothing. Most people voted and the ones who voted for hope and change.........how's that working for you? Not too good from where I sit and we are all going to be paying more for a lot less so those who do nothing can continue to do so. Hence the tea parties adn people from all walks of life finally realizing that if we do not make our voices heard and we stand up we will have even more rights and freedoms taken away. Read the bills and programs being started by the new administration, it's a socialist agenda all the way. And that has nothing to do with racism as the media is trying to spin it.

Gosh, my memory may be fuzzy, but did the economy just get bad on January 20, 2009? I'm thinking it was already in the shitter.

People have a poor sense of history. Obama's situation is much like what Ronald Reagan inherited in 1981.

In 1981, Reagan was elected and the Republicans took over the Senate. Like Obama, they inherited a terrible economy. Unemployment was rising. It did not fall below 8% until 1984 (follow the link below and select the years 1981 to 1984).

Prediction - Obama will do better than that. It won't take him his entire first time to bring unemployment down.

Slight correction - in 1981, Ronald Reagan took office (I had inadvertently said in 1981, he was elected).

I am surprised that many admit to Carter's total incompetence, admitting now that Reagan inheirited the economical disaster that Carter caused for this country. We are also reminded to remember our history, well if you do you need to remember what the policies that Carter had that caused the problems. Obama is doing the exact same things only ten times over and 4 times as fast. Look at what is happening in California right now in the San Joachin Valley. The Feds have turned off the water and the Valley that supplies about 20% of our produce in this country is turning into a dust bowl and unemployment is 17% and climbing daily! What? To save a minnow, a tiny Smelt they place on the endangered species list. The are refusing to turn the water on saying the fish must be saved from extinction. I ask at the cost of lives and our food source?

Since this was about healthcare I will get back to the subject. Obama said that no illegals would be covered under his healthcare plan. He Lied He is now saying the same thing and then saying, "This is why we must get all illegals legal.

As for the economy going in the tank before January 2009, that is true. Congress (Democrat lead since 2007/2008 half time election) created some terrible situations by ignoring what McCain and other Republicans were telling them about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. A law by Democrats that allowed anyone to buy a house, qualified or not. (Thank you Barney Frank and others) Housing collapsed with a mass of foreclosures. Republican reacted poorly acting like Democrats and made it worse. Bush made a huge mistake in approving the first "bailout" package. Creating a trillion dollar national debt. Since Jan. Obama has increased that debt to FOUR trillion and wants to add many more trillions. Look it up. So that is history worth remembering also.

That is one bizarre bunch of fingerpointing, sweety. I'd disagree with it, but the other night when I agreed with something you wrote, you jumped down my throat with spurs on both feet. I can't imagine how wigged out you'd get if I disagreed with you.

Thank you one and all for your comments, both good and bad. I apologize for the Typo. Clearly I jhave not achieved the God Like Status of Typing perfection, that some of you have. Could be that I was up for way too many hours and simply mis-typed. My bad.
I know that political Blogs are a guick way to bring peoples emotions to a boil. Republicans have gone too far to one side of the political stectrum, much as Democrats can go to far the other way. In the end the American people lose. We wind up spending ALL (meaning Republican & Democrat) money on things that serve a specific special interest group, to the detriment of the whole. Sometimes I think we need to "Clean house" and start with new fresh faces, people truly dedicated to dong whats right for the Country, not a political affilation.
Ireally have no problem if we (as a people) provide some TEMPORARY relief to those less fortunate, but there should be a time limit, to allow these people to get it together, Charity should not be a lifestyle.

To those who commented on the relationship part of the Blog, I'm glad that there are those who share at least some aspect of the views expressed.

Thanks again All, Good and bad, I see new substance in the points you make.
