Oh No!!! That is a shock although he was ill & all that talk about him feeling better in the past made you think he was going to last a little longer than this. I guess that's why it's a shock. What a shame !!!

I am so sorry to hear this, but it wasn't unexpected. I, like almost every woman in this country, fell in love with him in "Dirty Dancing", and then again in "Ghost". I always thought of him as one of the better actors of our time. He made a lot of good movies and brought a lot of joy into millions of peoples lives watching him perform.

I watched a few episodes of the TV show "Beast" that was on cable last season and I felt so bad for him as he did not look well at all. It must have been a terrible strain on him to do that series, even as short lived as it was.

Gone way to young and way to soon.

You never heard anything bad about him, married to the same woman for well over 30 years. That has to be some kind of record in Hollywood. And he had a lot of class, something you do not see a lot of anymore. RIP He will be missed.

I hadn't heard or read this yet... this is just so sad. I saw him do an interview not too long ago and although he looked bad, I think it was in my mind that he was going to beat this. Maybe it was wishful thinking disguised.

Yeap, so many of us fell in love with him in Dirty Dancing and continued from there.... Road House... Ghost. He will be greatly missed, but his movies will always be played, and will always remembered for his acting, dancing and a true heart throb to many regardless of their age.

I am extremely saddened by this news. But thanks for telling us, Megan.

RIP, Patrick.

I loved Patrick. He had a great reputation. He was a good actor and a wonderful man. He loved his wife Lisa. They danced together for many years. She was a ballerina when he met her. He will be missed.

I hadn't heard he died, but it's no surprise because of his illness. Dirty Dancing will always be a favorite movie for me. RIP

I loved him in Red Dawn, Roadhouse and Point Break. Three of the best awesomely cheesy action movies of all time. And I'm sure it is a guy vs. gal thing but Ghost and Dirty Dancing are on my list of the all-time worst movies ever.

I was on my way to the funeral of a young woman (who also died of cancer...acute myeloid leukemia) when I heard that he had died last night. It's a sad day...seems like we are hearing of so many people dying of one form of cancer or another. AML and pancreatic cancer are both especially fiendish cancers.

I heard a very humerus story about in on the set of Road House " think that was the one"

Anyway, his dancing came by naturally because his mother ran a dance studio for years and was a choreographer in Hollywood. He attended dance lessons most of his life.

Anyway, in between takes on the Road House Picture he was teaching the cast how to dance. Even the men. He was very vigilante about it, said it kept him limber to do his stunts. He wouldn't take NO for an answer, and when I heard the interviews before the release, everyone was joking about a second Dirty Dancing staring the cast and crew of Road House.

I was a fine actor but more so, a great Human Being. I love City of Hope. Probably one of his greatest Dramatic movies.

RIP Patrick, Your pain is over.

That guy was cool. That sucks he had to die so young. Only 57, damn. I read something about he today. Despite being diagnosed with Cancer, he was doing a tv show and working hard. That's just goes to show what a bad ass he truly was. He was a fighter. Rip Patrick Swayze.

He didn't lay in bed all time feeling sorry for himself that he had cancer. He still got on with his daily life. That's why I say he's a fighter.
