I've always loved females [even well before my teens!] I did have a chance to have full blown sex when I was about 10 or 11 [but damn glad I didn't] but chickened out because I was very naive about sex back then but she wasn't! She was damn cute too! Oh well!!!

Definitely 16 and older but I know plenty of 16 and 17 year old that are so irresponsible and immature they shouldn't be having sex either, shit as far as that goes I know or have met plenty of adults that shouldn't be having sex either since there is always that possibility they might reproduce. Indiana has or had (I don't know if they have changed) fucked up laws on the legal age to have sex. 16 is legal. 15 is legal with another 15 year old. 14 is legal with another 14 year old. FUCKED UP
Once they are out of my house they can do what they want until then if I want another kid running around the wife and I will have one.

I think a person's level of maturity is more important than their age. Are they ready to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions?

I just looked this up. In Indiana a new law went into effect July 1, 2007 to allow teenagers to have sex it was nicknamed the "Romeo and Juliet defense," "The change in the law decriminalizes consensual sex among teenagers in a dating relationship if they are within four years age difference,"

I think it depends on the person, and where they live.
In Arkansas, girls can start having sex around 12 or 13, or when they can no longer outrun their uncles/cousins.
I've told my son that he can start having sex, when he's 28 or 30.
Yeah, lets fuck!!

I like this answer by MWH. Shows a lot of sense.

I agree their maturity level should have something to do with it. I was 18. How do you legislate maturity though? And look how mature some of these legislators act and they write our laws.

Depends on maturity and the people involved. I don't think teenagers need to be having sex in the first place and a lot of the adults I have encountered as well LOL Proof of that is some of the e-mails I get from people who are supposed to be adults.

I think the age is different for each person.........what would be ok for some may not be ok for others.............the sad thing is that children are maturing (at least physically) earlier and they are having sex earlier...........its not that surprising to see 10 and 11 year olds not only sexually active but pregnant in many cases......Thats why I think its more important now to have the "talk" with children earlier........of course if the 10 yr old hasn't shown any interest in the opposite sex than maybe you can hold off ..................but Teens will be teens...........no matter what they will have sex when they want to no matter what anyone says......

My daughter is pretty mature for an 11 y/o, but she damn sure knows better than to go out and have sex....her and I have discussed this topic quite a few times. This is another time when I think parenting counts.....the less supervised a child is, the more trouble they are going to get into, as well as not being very informed on the subject because parents are not discussing it with them.

I think a person's level of maturity is more important than their age. Are they ready to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions? I agree with MWH. However, it is addresses only part of the issue. It is our responsibility as parents to teach our children what is acceptable and not acceptable sexual behavior and all of the responsibilities implied. It begins with age appropriate information, examples via adult behavior and constant engagement in our childrens lives and activities at home and away from home. This will not guarantee safe sexual behaviour with all young people, but it can go a long way in helping to prevent unwanted pregnancies and diseases.
I do not consider any state's judgement to determine age appropriate sexual activity.

I think a person's level of maturity is more important than their age I agree.
But, if a kid is 10 or 11 yrs old, my personal feeling is that is TOO YOUNG! 16 yrs old and up is more appropriate as far as I'm concerned.

Still they can be used as memento... puts a new spin on creative ideas for scrap booking—LOL!
This is a good question... a kudo for you.

Feathers Mom talked to her about it when she was 10??????????? okie dokie then...I was getting period talk then and all I wanted to do was go outside and climb trees and play Tarzan...although my brothers buddy William was a cutey patutey...anyway...I fuck myself alot, but very rarely let anyonelse try it. When is a good time to start? hell if I know, but I did it when finally someone talked me into it...and I wish I hadn;t done it with him!

My oldest grandchildren are 12 and 13... and they are too young to be having sex... Any age that they become, is too young....
Seriously, I would hope that they would be at least over 17.

my daughter is 14 and i have already told her thats guys will say anything to get sex.i have told her if she does to at least use a rubber.that way her chances of getting a std or pregnant are less likely to happen.i have told her i would like her to wait till she is at least 18 and out of high school(which she just started high school yesterday).her mom had to miss her graduation because she got out of the hospital and took our daughter home the day of graduation.i first had sex when i was 17 and thought i was ready but probably could have waited just a bit longer

Well, to be honest with you, I don't think a teenager should be having sex...they're not mature enough to handle the consesquences. So at least 18 ... of course there are exceptions. A lot of them. I've known many men who were well beyond legal age and they're STILL not mature enough to be having sex. LOL.
