We have all heard over recent weeks about this healthcare reform bill being proposed by Obama. I would love to hear some of your opinions on this bill, and all the drama surrounding it with the town meetings being held by some congressional represenatives and U.S. Senators around the country.

My opinion is, sure, some reform is needed, but this bill being proposed needs to fail for a number of reasons. Too much government in it, people will be forced to have healthcare coverage who otherwise can't afford it, and if they don't, a fine will be levied against them by the I.R.S each and every year until they get the coverage. Some possible senerios can also be played out in the care of the elderly to where many could and would be written off for a longer quality life. Even though Obama claims this bill will not force anyone to change their healthcare plans and doctors in their health insurance from work, this is a lie. It states otherwise in this H.R. 3200 bill.

Why is it when liberals are out protesting and trying to get questions answered, they're called community organizers or activists, but when conservatives do the same, they're called "angry mob" by Obama and other liberals? Obama claims that most of these protestors are organized groups put out by conservative groups at the town meetings, but I disagree. Some are, sure, but most wanting their questions answered aren't that you see aren't. What's funny is Obama planted a few people at his Portsmouth, New Hampshire rally with one of these people being a little girl with a rehearsed line about the protestors opposing this bill. I think it's pretty shameful on how low Obama will go to use and destroy his opposition for simply not agreeing with him. Obama a uniter? HA! He's a devider who plays Chicago politics! The sooner he's stopped from ruining this country, the better! Hopefully next year during the mid term elections, we can stop most if not all of his policies. But right now, people need to contact their congressmen/women and senators (senators whose terms are up next year) and let them know they will be voted out next year if they vote for this flawed bill. Anyone is welcome to comment with their opinions on this. I do ask for people to be respectful and civil to everyone here. We're not all going to agree with each other I'm sure, but I want this to be a clean blog without personal insults and cheap shots at one another who partcipates in this blog. If you can't be respectful enough to do any of this when posting your comment, I will delete it!

It is becoming apparent to me that the betterment of our nation is not the road Capital Hill is on. Capital Hill has been driving down this same road for 12 years now at the very least.

I can only offer this thought to all. Be careful not to forget the other 3199 bills that Congress can pass. Putting all our attention on just one bill makes it easy to slip the really horrible ones past.

HR193 Americare
HR194 Medikids
HR676 USNHC (the worst one of them all)
HR1200 the other Health care for all bill.

All four of these proposed bills create Health care for all. Including anyone within the US from foreign countries.

I can only relate the current state of affairs to this analogy.

"It's like a bank robber having the keys to every bank in the nation" referring to the members of congress.

You're absolutely right. This administration and this congress under Polosi, along with Reid is well known for trying this tactic.

Btw, I'm also hearing some liberals going as far as calling anyone a racist for not supporting Obama's healthcare reform bill.

This country does not have a Health Care problem.
We have Insurance, money, and job problems, caused by Bad Government.
OUR politicians have been so eager for the last 20 years for NAFTA and
offshoring to export quality, good paying jobs that could give good health
coverage here. (Not just the Dems., but the GOP, also.)

My brother is a power plant welder, and related the story of a buddy of his
that was working a shutdown. 90% of the workers there, were Mexican
Nationals that learned their trade with funds sent from the U.S., supplied
to Mexico for NAFTA. The U.S. Citizen, was told to pick a 'fitter' from the
ranks of the Mexican Nationals, but he said he knew of several Citizen
fitters out of a job, that could be there in a few hours.
Was soon laid off, and was called a 'racist'.

Not Chicago, but a good example of Chicago Politics.

Most of this type of power plant shutdown, often pay in the $20 an hour
range. You know anyone that would work for this kind of money???
IT's being sent away, one way or another.

For the most part, we don't have a huge problem with our healthcare system. Granted, it's not perfect, but I feel that it ranks best in the world.

As the owner of a struggling small business, I am fearful that I will never again be able to hire employees. I've been forced to lay everyone off and am operating as a sole proprietor. And even if future employees had coverage through their spouses, early plans would have me paying a spoecial tax to help pay for the health insurance for others. The biggest problem they face is how to pay for their proposed plans. My suggestion is that we save our economy first; allow employers to start bringing people back to work; THEN revamp everything. Help those in trouble now, fix some of the problems, spend a trillion dollars to re-create the

Fortunately Americans are expressing themselves directly to their legislators on this topic and the administration and Democratic leadership are backing off several of their original stands...who knows what the final product will be? Maybe the average American will get his/her message across.

There's getting to be so much bullshit and controversy on it, it's too confusing
for an old dummy like me..
So far, I'm happy with the plan I have..My biggest co-pay for scrips is $6 and for radiology about $50..

Health care in this country isn't perfect, and yes, it does need some work. I don't know all of the facts with this plan, but, I do know that right now, I don't think it's going to work. I agree with Manwithoutahorse, save our economy first, that way employers can start hiring again, then BOTH parties need to stop the pettiness that has become politics in this country and do something miraculous called WORK TOGETHER to reform health care. As it stands right now...I don't know if I could trust it.

well we all have opinions, our health care is expensive even for the employers which is why most now only hire part time. We aren't getting the full story on the reform bill. We are receiving all the junk mail about it so what do we really know about it?? Me I don't know shit, I also don't know where to go and read about it. But does that make it okay for me to "mouth" off? no the so called "radicals" are just showboating and trying to stir up shit but again that is JMO.. And shawn our health system is not the best in the world I hear Canada takes care of their own. Which I was under the impression that is what Obama is trying to do. But hey what do I know?????

Usually I have a lot to say about 'issues' of our country and express my opinions on politicians and politics! I will spare everyone this time!

I think what we're seeing here in the past couple of weeks during the town hall meetings and President Obama's (I say President because I respect the office and not necessarily the person holding said office, if I feel he doesn't respect the citizens of our great country) slipping poll ratings!

Those two factors alone, are a telling story of the impact that health care reform is having! People are afraid of what they know of the bill (apparently we know more of what is in the bill, than what the politicians could hope to know) but even more afraid of what we don't know what's in the bill, being forced on us! As is the case for all other proposals that the current administration is trying to force down our throats!

Looks like the the Obama administration is beginning to realize, they've bitten off more than they can chew! If the trend keeps up, they may end up going out the door, quicker than they weaseled themselves in!

I watch, I listen and I read...and I'm still in the dark. To me it sorta boils down to...who do you believe? Every newscast, every newspaper article....EVERY avenue you explore says something different..."this is what it is...no THIS is what it is..."

How the hell can anyone be sure of anything?

Our health care is like banks and corporations...greedy and power hungry. They gouge the little people...John Q. Public. Not only do they bleed us dry for prescription drugs, they dictate over how a doctor treats his patients...how long a patient stays in the hospital/extended care/physical therapy and so on...and what treatment procedures are allowed and what aren't.

Then the expense trickles down to Joe Blow...doctors office visits rise, they charge for filling out papers....hell, doctors, hospitals, nursing homes charge you for just walking thru the door! One bandaid may cost you $20.

I agree...fix the economy first...get people back to work. Then put a stop to the astronomical charges on medical anything and prescription drugs.

I can't make heads not tails about any of it...what's truth and what isn't. I figure in the end it'll be about like raising the minimum wage...somebody somewhere is gonna figure out a way to beat it. Raise the minimum wage? Well hell, just cut people's hours. But that's another story.

In my opinion, in the end it's gonna be business as usual...the middle class, the poor and the senior citizens are gonna be the ones left holding an empty bag.

I received this in an e-mail, I haven't had a chance to explore all of it, because I don't have 6 months to read the whole proposal. But even if Some of this is true, we're all screwed

# 7, #45 #46, & #47, are especially scary

52 Reasons to Reject Obamacare:

The person producing this list doubled checked and states that these are the true meanings behind each and every listing. The reader is encouraged to look into the matter for him or herself. This is far too important to wait for the agents of “spin” to “explain” the matter.

It's funny I remember back in the 60's and early 70's when it was OK to protest, want to change the way government was run, and question those in authority. But then that was, what is now, the Liberal side of our present government. Those now 50 and 60 year old congressmen and senators were raised and educated under those points of view, and we must not question them.

The communist governments of Europe once said they wouldn't conquer American with a fight, but with the vote. Looks like it's coming to be truth.

. And shawn our health system is not the best in the world I hear Canada takes care of their own. Which I was under the impression that is what Obama is trying to do.
Oh, but I beg to differ with you. From what I understand about Canada's health care system, the government must approve what is done with you in regards of your treatment up there. That also takes some time to review as well. And the wait getting the treatment and care one needs up there. I haven't heard anyone leaving our country to go to another one for quality health care. It's usually the other way around.

Again are you postive of what you are saying? Or just what you have heard?
Enough to know that some congressional and senate dems hosting some town hall meetings won't allow anyone carrying some posters around with part of the health care bill copied on them with why they're protesting it inside to these meetings. That and seeing part of this bill on tv with what I have written in this blog.

Here's a quote from my friends Facebook page. Speaks for itself.

This is either a case of a bad apple Republican (all partys have bad apples in them), or it was really a liberal posting a remark like that to make Republicans look bad. Not sure why anyone would put a lot of stock into someone posting something like that.

Lisa46, may I help you out?

We aren't getting the full story on the reform bill. We are receiving all the junk mail about it so what do we really know about it?? Me I don't know shit,

Firstly, let me say this, I'm saying this much the way I would say, "Don't step in the cowpie!!!". Your view is alot like that of other Health Care Reform supporters. You've heard things on the TV, read them in a paper, or gotten it in an email. Those of us that are shouting at the top of our lungs have turned a blind eye to that rhetoric and read the damned bill. That's why we are so pissed off.

Now let me help everyone here who would like to know for themselves. To see with their own eyes the truth.

thomas.gov

goto this website. On the main page there is a bright red hyperlink to the Health care bill. (H.R.3200) This link will take you to the start page for the bill. Click on the link that says, "text of legislation". Read it for yourself. The thomas site will time out on you before you can read even one page of the thing. Just click "back" and re-click the red link again. Keep a note pad with you when you do. IF you find something that just confuses the crap out of you. Send me an email referencing the section and paragraph and I'll do my best to interpret it for you.

Just as a sidenote, My all time favorite part of H.R.3200 is within section 401 that creates a fine to anyone without acceptable health coverage. To equal 2.5% of your modified gross income. Then it continues to except(exclude) people of religious conscience as define by section 1402(G)(1).

THERE IS NO SECTION 1402 AT ALL!!!!!!!

BTW, does anyone know what religions have a religious conscience against medicine???? starts with and M?????

I don't know what Obama's plans for healthcare are, I can only speak from my own personal experience in Canada.

I've been seriously ill two times in my life and have received prompt and quality care with the Canadian system. They even paid for lifesaving drugs for me because I would never have been able to afford them and would have died without them.

I hear all these horror stories about our system ...usually coming from the U.S. With my work with Hospice I see many people who have benefited from our system. And continue to get good medical treatment even though some are terminally ill. Not sure who is badmouthing our system but whoever it is has absolutely No idea what they are talking about. I would suggest they would probably be health insurance companies who stand to loose the most if universal healthcare were passed.

Sure our system is not perfect but in most cases people are treated with good professional service. I hope you folks get the healthcare we have in Canada...it seems long overdue ...best of luck...

Borty, I thank you for the kind thoughts. But, I have many Canadian friends who moved here to get away from Canadian Health care. In fact, all of the Canadians I know did. I'm glad you got what you needed. But remember, "even a blind squirrel finds a nut".

The real problem the US is facing isn't about Canada's Health Care being good or bad. Its about the American way of life and keeping it. It is not evil or demonic to want to live our lives our way, even if its different than any other country on the planet. It is our natural right to do so.

The issues with the US health care system are this....

Tort. Billions of dollars are spent to cover tort rewards. These rewards get passed on to the people.(every country that has Universal health care, also has tort limits)
Drug Companies. Billions are spent in direct to patient advertising. Again, passed on to the people.
Fraud. Medicaid/Medicare are socialized health care. These programs have been robbed by both criminals on the street and politicians. What do you think will happen when the cookie jar gets expanded to cover everyone?

Socialized health care is a scam.

Lastly, health insurance is socialized medicine. Everyone puts money in and they decide who gets some of it. We need to correct these problems. Not give politicians the keys to the safe.

Unfortunately, Borty, for some people, knowing what they are talking about is not nearly as important as the comfort of preconceived ideas.

Now I do have a friend in Canada who has health issues and she does have a problem with slow medical services delivery due to approvals, backlogs, and what may be a shortage of physicians in specialized fields.

However, she moved to Canada from Germany a few years ago. Germany has the oldest universal health care plan in the world. She has no complaints regarding her health care in Germany.

I'M JUST A BILL
Music & Lyrics: Dave Frishberg
Sung by: Jack Sheldon
>> (Woof! You sure gotta climb a lotta steps to get to
this Capitol
>> Building here in Washington! But I wonder who that
sad little
>> scrap of paper is?)
I'm just a bill,
Yes, I'm only a bill,
And I'm sitting here on Capitol Hill.
Well, it's a long, long journey
To the capital city,
It's a long, long wait
While I'm sitting in committee,
But I know I'll be a law someday...
At least I hope and pray that I will,
But today I'm still just a bill.
>> (Gee, bill, you certainly have a lot of patience and
courage!)
(Well I got *this* far. When I started, I wasn't even
a *bill* - I
was just an idea. Some folks back home decided they
wanted a law
passed, so they called their local congressman and he
"You're right,
there ought to be a law." Then he sat down and wrote
me out and
introduced me to Congress, and I became a bill. And
I'll remain a
bill until they decide to make me a law.)
I'm just a bill,
Yes I'm only a bill,
And I got as far as Capitol Hill.
Well now I'm stuck in committee
And I sit here and wait
While a few key congressmen
Discuss and debate
Whether they should
Let me be a law...
Oh how I hope and pray that they will,
But today I am still just a bill.
>> (Listen to those congressmen arguing! Is all that
discussion and
>> debate about you?)
(Yes. I'm one of the lucky ones. Most bills never even
get this far.
I hope they decide to report on me favourably,
otherwise I may die.)
>> ("Die?")
(Yeah: die in committee. Oooh! But it looks like I'm
gonna live.
Now I go to the House of Representatives and they
vote on me.)
>> (If they vote "yes", what happens?)
(Then I go to the Senate and the whole thing starts
all over again.)
>> (Oh no!)
(Oh yes!)
I'm just a bill,
Yes I'm only a bill,
And if they vote for me on Capitol Hill,
Well then I'm off to the White House
Where I'll wait in a line
With a lot of other bills
For the President to sign.
And if he signs me then I'll be a law...
Oh, how I hope and pray that he will,
But today I am still just a bill.
>> (You mean even if the whole Congress says you
should be a law, the
>> President can still say no?)
(Yes, that's called a "veto". If the President vetoes
me, I have to
go back to Congress, and they vote on me again, and
by that time
it's...)
>> (By that time, it's very unlikely that you'll
*become* a law! It's
>> not easy to become a law, is it?)
No! But how I hope and I pray that I will,
But today I am still just a bill!
>> (He signed you, bill! Now you're a law!)
(Oh yes!)
^
We will just have to wait for this process

counseling sessions that address end-of-life issues
Yes, that would have been put into place by the government which would have rationed out little quality health care to the elderly under this proposal such as giving them pain pills rather that actually addressing their needs for a better quality of life. This would have not benefited them whatsoever! As for Palin, she didn't start this, people wanting answers at the town hall meetings and the dems trying to cover some of this bill up is what started of this. Thankfully, the majority of the public is against this rotten bill.

Btw, I suggest you watch some real news with truth instead of watching the Obama network (MSNBC).
