****************What's more important, intelligence or common sense, and why? I was watching one of my favorite shows on tv, and this question was thrown out there, so I decided to post a blog asking what people thought was more important to them.

As a general rule, common sense is one of the signs of intelligence

You can hold a Phd and still not have any common sense! I know, I've seen it several times throughout the years!
As for me?... I hold a BS degree in common sense!

Definitely common sense. I knew a guy that graduated with honors from Medical School, but couldn't figure out how to jack up a car to change a flat tire.

Common sense. You can be a genius, but if you don't have common sense, you come off looking like a moron.

Common sense. You can be a genius, but if you don't have common sense, you come off looking like a moron. You just described my son to a T. My son is considered a genius on every IQ test he has ever been given, he scored the highest on his entrance exam than anyone in the exam office for MN and ND. And common sense wise...........dumber than a rock......God Love him.............but when he went into the Army a change came over him.............and if you can be taught common sense that's what they did..........but there are still times I just shake my head................
I think that they are equally important and what you lack in one can make up for the other..........JMO

Ah, but a person with a high level of intelligence would have enough common sense to get someone else to jack up the car and change the flat tire for him. Enough common sense to, shall we say, "come in out of the rain." As well as, probably, the money to pay him/her to do it because their high level of intelligence has afforded them the opportunity to get a good education and, therefore, a high-paying job, rather than the ignorant individual who's still flipping burgers at McDonald's well into his 40s who, in all likelihood, has neither the intelligence, nor the common sense sufficient, to even walk and chew gum at the same time.
