Saving Pennies For Another Day...

Both of my grand daughters are spending the night with me and the youngest one discovered some change that I had.... yes HAD laying on the desk.

She asked me whose money it was and if she could have the pennies.
I'm not sure the other two weren't asking for at least quarters by the time they were 4. But then again, to be completely honest, I might have to take the blame for that. I had money to give them ..... then.

Anyways, she wanted to put the pennies in her piggy bank that she has here. She climbed on my lap and gave me a big hug and a kiss and told me thanks for the pennies. She counted them as she put them in her bank......and since she did such a good job........ and I thought I might get more hugs and kisses, I ended up giving her all of the change.
She can't add yet, but she knew the denomination of each and the total of how many coins there were. And Yes, I got more hugs, kisses and thank yous....

I get plenty of them anyways, but I'll take all of them I can get from them.

Both of the girls are really good about saving their money, but my grandson spends his before it has time to get dirty or wrinkled....

But there went my change, so much for it going into my piggy bank.... lol

Actually I have a Kama Sutra bath salts tin that I save change in when ever I pull it out of my purse or my pockets and don't need it for anything off hand.
I don't touch it unless it's an absolute necessity until it's full.

I know that right now with the economy it's sometimes difficult to have any change at the end of the day, but when times were better... or when you do have change that you don't need right then, what do you do with it?
Do you keep it with you to spend, do the kids get it or do you put it in something to save it until it's full? If so, what do you do with it then?

Do you save it for something specific, or just to save?

I don't carry real money with me............I have a habit of misplacing it and drives my daughter up the wall..........I use my debit card or check book and I round up to the nearest dollar...................and when I deposit i round down........and than I pretend it isn't doesn't take long for money to add up in there...........

Ahhhh so there IS a down side to paying with credit cards. Damn!!

I pay all my bills on line. That saved me a small amount on stamps and checks. I either use my debit card or cash and put whatever is left over in my account. your question, my change? I put it in my pocket and use it s I go along till it is gone. Yep, I get more at work for tips, and then I just start all over again. If it really gets to be a bundle I cash it in at work for bills. Cute blog...I want kisses for giving change away!

I save it for emergencies. I put it in a tin where I can't see it unless I really need it.

All the pennies I had been saving have been used to pay Paul so to speak

I have a cup on the counter one of my exchange students made for me. When it gets full I put it into a larger jar. Used to use it for road trips, but with my pay cuts....

When I waitressed before he closed down the restaurant...all of my loose change would be saved for my Christmas fund.

But now that I don't get any or as much loose change ....

At our church we have what we call "Pennies from Heaven" at the end of every month The Altar and Rosary Society collects any and all loose change anyone wants to contribute. The money then goes for church supplies, e.g. candles, wine, linens, etc.... so that is usually where my loose change goes now.

We have a wood cigar box on the dresser that we put all the silver in and an old wine jug that we put the pennies in....the silver is what we use to go yardsaling with, the pennies....haven't done anything with those yet.

My change goes in a caddie in the car console. I raid it when I am low on cash.

I have two children, what's change? chuckle...we have a big coffee can we keep it in, if the kids mysteriously don't get it all once it's full we take it to the bank & split it 1/2 & put it in there bank accounts...We have rule on the bank accounts though, if it's something big they really want we will go 1/2 but as far as frivolous spending not til there 18.

I am with luscious when I had a job, all my change went into a container until the end of Nov. then it became Christmas money. Needless to say this year it is empty

I rarely have change to save. Most of the change I have in my jar comes from loose change I find in left in the rooms at work when I'm cleaning. It adds up too. Last time I rolled it all came out to about $43. Which I took to the bank and put into my checking account to use for bills.

Couldn't even use it for something to a good movie or going out to have fun.

I see Ynot is back with us.

I use to keep my change in a tall drinking glass. When it got full I would cash it in. It held around $50.00. I never did put pennies in it just other change. Now that times are hard I use my change. At work if customer's leave me change I usually cash it in before I leave work.

I'm the one who gets the leftover pennies in this household.. it's all the spending cash I get actually... times is ruff.

Aug 10 @ 8:30PM
I usually toss my change over to the side until I need it for something a little extra.

Btw, I see that Ynot is back. Welcome back, Steve!
