I did a beer summit blog this week, and so I thought that I would do one with cigaretts. I don't know how anyone can stand smoking cigarettes. The smell alone is sickening. I can maybe understand wanting to check it out once or twice when you're young, but to continue the habit while getting hooked is nuts. I tried a few puffs when I was young (something like 12-13), and really never wanted to try it again. I also tried a cigar wrapped up in it's plastic to where it was never opened that I found out back on the railroad tracks at the time, but I got sick and threw up. I will say that cigar smells a hell of a lot better than cigaretts.
For those of you who smoke, what's your favorite cancer sticks, and why?

My favorite? The one I don't have to smell or see. I get so tired of the smoking pigs that pollute the ground and my air. If you have to have it go smoke in your car or your house or another place designated for smoking. Quit smoking in non-smoking areas and in front of doors so I have to pass through your foul air to get to my destination. Sure, you have the right to smoke. But you don't have the right to infringe on my rights with it.

My favorite? The one I don't have to smell or see. I get so tired of the smoking pigs that pollute the ground and my air I recall a woman bitching about smoking to me waiting at a bus stop in downtown Dallas like you. She stood there bitching as this stinky bus pulled up. Not only that, she had so much perfume on that the bitch clogged my sinuses. I like you honey, but in this case, if we are outdoors, fuck off. I usually like to leave people like that with a greasy fart.

Now I will say this. Some smokers are actually thoughtful of others. You don't see very many of them, but I know there are some. Kim is a light smoker, and she was always very thoughtful and clean about it. She wouldn't even smoke inside of her own house. She always took it outside. She would take a couple of hits off and and set it down for next time she came back out. She wasn't really all that bad. She would also rinse her mouth out afterwards. She was very clean about it.

Me having shaved my body hair off every now and then over the years, my friends usually have some fun with me about that. Some of these friends smoke, and so I usually kid back with them about if I did take up smoking, the brands would probably be either Misty lights 100's or Virginia Slims.

Yeah, the way it seems is that WoW and OHT are those assholes that think their right to smoke supersedes my right to not have to smell it. Those are the sort of assholes that I am talking about. And the ones that throw their butts on the ground...clean up after yourself, pig. Breathing is necessary. Smoking is not.
And,yeah, WoW, you are right about the woman and her cologne. Too many people think the world should revolve around them and their rights. People have lost the sense of common decency.

I'm thankful they stopped it in restaurants. Yeah, I have no problem with them smoking outside...unless it is near a doorway/entrance or in a no smoking area. I'm even cool with smoking in bars. Then I have a choice of whether or not I want to breathe it. I just get angry when my choice is taken away from me.

I am doing everything else to get healthy just makes sense to do that...........but I am a very courteous smoker....I don't smoke in public, I don't smoke around non smokers, and I definitely don't smoke in non smokers homes or cars even if they tell me I can.I figure its one thing to screw up my health I am not going to try to screw up anyone else.

Ok my 2 cents on this argument going on. I used to smoke and quit more than a decade ago. (Yeah me). However now I do have trouble with the smell, and with my allergies acting up dealing with the cigarette smoke AND the perfumes is difficult. Hey guys here's a news flash next time you light up around non-smokers THEY MAY HAVE HEALTH PROBLEMS THAT IT EFFECTS NEGATIVELY. Oh yes that goes for those who bathe in that nasty "old-woman" perfume and heavy calognes, and yes that includes aftershave. There now i'm getting off my soap box and good nite all.

Just reminded me of standing outside a Circle K convenience store in September of 1989 with two Army buddies, waiting for the other one still inside getting some beer. We were passing around one of my hand rolled cigarettes which tasted better than anything I've had before or since. A cop pulled up in a hurry with his lights flashing and demanded to see what we were smoking. Sheesh, he had nothing better to do but I suppose there are people in the world stupid enough to stand around smoking something illegal in broad daylight?

Never smoked. tobacco and never will. I grew up around tobacco farms and know what they use to grow it. Not putting that stuff in my lungs. If other people want to kill themselves that is their business. I don't want to smell your smoke just like I don't want to smell heavy perfume on someone. There are smoking areas for a reason and if says no smoking there is a reason for that. There is no smoking in school buildings or anywhere on a school campus in NC now. Most public places are smoke free down here. They had a problem with people dropping butts downtown so they started charge them with littering if they catch them. .When I worked at the store we would not take back items that smelled like smoke as we considered them damaged by the customer. The same went for clothes that had the smell of perfume or fried foods on them when people brought them back. I think the things that made me gag was when someone would come in the store smelling like smoke, perfume, and booze combined with sweat. There were a few customers who would come in the store and all the associates would disappear. LOL If I can smell anything on you ten feet away it is too much, I don't care what it is.

Not only that, she had so much perfume on that the bitch clogged my sinuses. Calling women bitches because they have on too much perfume?
Well I guess this pig who might also be a bitch with perfume will just quietly slip out the back door. Sometimes it's good to know what people really think of me.

When I smoked, for the longest time, it was KOOL 100's, then I switched to Marlboro Lights 100's before I quit.
As to the not smoking in public...I always thought it didn't make sense to sit in a doctor's or hospital's waiting room and smoke....so when it was banned in those building, it made sense to me. Restaurants, I still believe should have smoking and non smoking sections. I haven't smoked in over 5 years, and I can see it from the non smokers perspective as far as smell. But, my sister works at a restaurant with smoking and non smoking sections, and it has what is called a "smoke eater" vent...and that thing works. I've had smokers sitting in the booth behind me smoking, and never realized it because the smoke eater was on.
Now, if someone is outside smoking, and a non smoker is going to be walking by...takes only a few seconds to hold your breath as you walk by. Guess what I'm talking about is compromise a little on both sides. And respect.

Calling smokers pigs is classy? Respectful? That's dumbing it down? No, I was calling inconsiderate smokers that throw their cigarette butts on the ground pigs. Same goes for any one that litters...smoker or not. Most smokers are not inconsiderate and are respectful when they smoke. Sadly it is a small few that give all smokers a bad name.
The same goes for people that talk too loud on their cell phones in public, wear obnoxious amounts of sceant (or the whole BO thing), using profanity loudly (in public), etc. Generally, I suppose, I am talking about that small minority that subject the rest of us to their rudeness.

I recently have fallen off the wagon and smoked a few cigs. I might have 3 or 4 when I'm drinking some beers and that is about it. I don't smoke in my house or even my car. And I am all for the anti-smoking in public building laws, etc. I don't want to go back to my childhood when people smoked everywhere. But the anti-smoking hysteria in this country is becoming a bit much. Now they are banning smoking in outdoor parks in some spots. Come on, is that necessary? I don't think people should be subjected to second hand smoke inside. But it seems like some of these forces feel like it is their right to never have to even catch a whiff of smoke again. It has gotten a little ridiculous. Just make it illegal if that is what you want and get it over with.

Now they are banning smoking in outdoor parks in some spots. Come on, is that necessary? People have their children in the park. I took my grand daughters to a park when they were younger. And you had all these people sitting by the play area smoking like a smokestack. I did not feel that was right as that was an area for children not people hanging out smoking. We left as I did not want to sit on a bench and have smoke blown in my face while they played. That is now a smoke free area as it should be. What burns me up is to see parents smoking in enclosed areas with small children. At that point is looks like their habit is more important than their family.

Shewolf- obviously next to the playground should be non-smoking. But I'm talking about not being able to sit by the softball fields and have a beer and a smoke, no smoking out on the golf course, things like that.

I can see the point of a lot of non-smokers in that they dont understand why smokers, well, smoke. But what I dont understand is why a smoker would choose to smoke Marlboro?!? I think them things just have absolutely NO flavor what so ever, and it makes my throat feel like its been burned. My smoke of choice is Camel, and I wouldnt have it any other way, Camel Full Flavor, although I have dove into Menthol, its just not for me i guess.

OP's-- Other People's cigarette's
Some people are heavily addicted to nicotine, and it is a nightmare for them to give it up. Others are not addicted at all. I am the latter. I can smoke a cigarette or 2 a month and not crave it or get hooked. Sometimes a cigarette tastes really good with a beer or sitting around a fire pit with friends.
I will eventually buy a packfor the folks I have mooched cigarettes from.
I remember hating French cigarettes.. I think they were called Gauloise.
