Career Change Update posted 7/31/2009 8:38:11 AM | 0 kudos what's this?     report abuse   Premeir To all of those of you who have kept an occassional eye on my progress blogs.........I have been pounding away at textbooks, final exams and prep exams for state boards and writing term papers. Well, after 2 years of working and going to college full time I graduate with honors on Sunday August 2, 2009 with a Registered Nursing degree. And to top off that news, yesterday Mclaren Regional Medical Center called me for a job interview this coming Wednesday. I had a ggod job but was on call a lot working in open heart surgery running heart lung machines and other equipment related to that. In addition to blood cell therapy machines. My life was ruled by a pager 24/7. Agter 20 years of that I decided to make a change. Nursing will give me more time off with better pay and a lot more flexibility of when I want to work how much and where. The demad is such that I can go where ever I choose. I feel that I made a very good choice and even with Michigan being in the tank with high unemployment etc it will eventually turn around when a few more people wise up and realize that they can make a difference rather than just roll over and let Big Brother do it for you. For those of you in a tough situation I have some advice for you. Keep your head up, THINK and make a choice to help yourself make a change to get your life better because no one will do it for you no matter what they say. Work hard and if someone does help you, pay it forward! I thank all of you here who have commented and have given me moral support. 	A saw an article on TV that said medical training and/or nursing is the field that will afford the most jobs and careers in the near future. Congrats! You picked a good one

	congrats!! I wish my tummy wasn't so easy to upset I would have went into nursing. So I tried accounting but even with my 2 yr degree so far I ahven't found anyone willing to work with me. So seriously good for you

	A saw an article on TV that said medical training and/or nursing is the field that will afford the most jobs and careers in the near future. It's highly competitive right now and difficult to get into a program even if you are a 4.0 student. But, yeah, the demand for the jobs isn't likely to go down in the future. I'm in school, hoping to get in a health and human services program also. Though the one I am considering is in high demand few people want to do it.
