Someone here invited me to join Amateur Match, so I figure "k, why not?"
I join the site, and overnight I got about five or so messages! People telling me about how I topped their search results and how they wanted to know me, people tell me they enjoyed reading my profile, etc, people even offering lunch here and there.
I found that pretty fascinating, but I can't reply to the mail I get without paint almost thirteen dollars a month! Golly gee, I hope they know I don't have a premium there and that I'm not going to pay money just to exchange messages. Absurd, isn't it?
Hopefully people will find me equally as "cute" and "charming" here, where you don't need to pull out a wallet just to say "Hi!"

Anyone else found that sort of thing annoying?

I think it's pretty much common practice on 'match making' websites, to entice people to pay for a subscription! Think of the amount of money each site must be bringing in each month from its members, even if their paying membership is only a fraction of their over-all member base!

How about that. They have people on the pay sites that reply to new people as bait to get people to pay. I was offered a "job" being one of these about a year ago. Of course, it would only be my words but with a profile they created with a younger, more affluent, better looking guy that existed in different profiles in different demographic areas. There are legitimate free sites you can try like OK cupid, plenty of fish and others you can expand to.

Yeah! I just looked it up- only one of the six people actually wanted to talk. The rest were fake profiles, called "OC's" meant to encourage new users to use the rest of the site.
Good thing I didn't get sucked in, thanks guys!

btw any idea how much you could've made taking that job? lol, it sounds interesting. Twisted, but interesting!
