Today marks the 3 month anniversary of my surgery. After a visit to the Doctors today, and series of x-rays and a brief conversation. He told me today was the day I could start walking. I have no Physical Therapy, he told me to get a walker for some support, and just walk around the apartment and outside.

Let me tell you being up on two feet is strange. I managed to get from the Kitchen to my desk, about 50 steps, without too much trouble. I'm holding onto walls and anything else I can right now. I feel a little dizzy, and I'm not ready to run a 5 K marathon, but boy does then feel good.

I see him again in 3 months, he said by then that will be all the progress I'm going to make. I think I'll make great progress by then, but It will be next spring before I can ride. I'll need lots more healing time before I can attempt that, and I want the stiffness and most of the soreness gone. But I am allow to drive a car now. But gain I'm waiting a week or so, just to get the soreness out of the muscles and some reflexes back.

Thanks everyone for the many PM's both to me and DKW about your concern for my well being. I think I'm well on my way to recovery.

I'm very happy for you! There's nothing like regaining a physical ability after you've lost it for a long time. Hope your recovery continues to go well.

Great news! Get the walker, it is insurance against slipping, falling down, etc. and risking injury.

That is GREAT news!!
I'm really happy for you.

Like WOW said, get the walker for safety sake.
But as good as it may feel to be up and moving, don't over do it your first few days and end up paying for it later... that's really easy to do.
Especially for stubborn or head strong people............... lol
