And thinking about how just a few short months ago, I was bitching and whining for summer to get here because I was SO tired of winter. I like summer days, warm, nice breezes, listening to the birds singing, slapping on sunscreen so I don't get a sunburn, watching the butterflies, all of that fun summer stuff. But, today, it's HOT!!!!!!!!!! It's already 80 degrees here, and I know my lawn needs mowing, but, it's too hot to go out there and argue with the lawn mower. It is a cranky bugger on the first attempt at starting it. By the third yank, and I don't mean....oh hell, never mind! Any how, after the third attempt, it starts and I'm off! (and not that way either! geez...stop with the dirty thought people! ) At least I make sure my doors are LATCHED before I go out to mow the lawn. My backyard is fenced in, and when I mow the lawn, I keep the dogs in the house, open the fence so I can head out to the front yard without having to shut off the lawn mower, put dogs in the house, open the gate, start the mower back up to finish. So much easier just to keep the dogs in the house, open the gate, and go from there. Anyhoo...a few weeks back, as I finished the backyard and headed through the open gate to the front yard, I caught a movement out of the corner of my eye. Yep, I must not have latched my backdoor because there is one of my dogs, Buddy, trotting up to me. Damn dog looked like he was grinning too! So, had to shut off the lawn mower anyway to get Buddy back in the house. Thankfully he is a well behaved dog......sort of , because I got him back in the house with no problem. I went back out, after making sure the door is latched this time, started the ornery mower back up, and finished my front yard. When I got done, I wheeled the mower to the backyard, closed the gate, and opened the door for the dogs to run out. First thing, Buddy sees the lawn mower, now mind you, he is 2 yrs old, has seen this lawn mower many, many time, and had the nerve to bark at it!!!!!! Guess he was "mad" because he knew it had something to do with him being put back in the house.
Anyway, today. I think I'll put off mowing the lawn till tomorrow. It's supposed to storm today and cool things off by tomorrow. Yeah, I'm procrastinating again....but it's so hard to leave this air conditioned house and argue with a cranky mower.
