I am posting all these links from the Helium website who's link was provided by dmbchick! I took it upon myself to gather up the articles concerning the subject at hand and put it in a format that makes it easier to access the articles regarding the subject at hand! It was somewhat tedious crawling around the site!

Helium is a website for people to publish their articles in! 'Nuff said!

I read the first few 'FOR: and AGAINST': articles on Socialism and then decided to 'skip-read' the rest, in the interest of saving a lot of time- learning enough of each article, to understand what it's basic content was about and to categorize them in a 'For: or Against:' arrangement! One or two from each category, probably could have gone either way!

I'm posting the results here and plan on blogging the same info later on, to give everyone whos interested, a chance to figure it out for themselves- which is the most suitable way to go for our country! From what I can tell, Socialism, MAY and I stress MAY have worked out early in our country's development! Now? NO! JMO

But you reading the articles and decide for yourself, which is best- Capitalism or Socialism! BTW, apparently the government is trying to move away from the word Socialist and replacing it with the word, Progressive! Sounds much better, doesn't it? The government [not just this administration] and previous administrations, have a habit of renaming agendas if it feels the present name is harmful to its cause! Does the word 'deception' mean anything here? It should you know- Unky Sam, is very good at it!!

I would also like to give my viewpoint based on what I understand out of all this mess! I consider it sort of like a huge Ponzi scheme, if you will- a kind of "Rob Peter to Pay Paul" method! Don't like the word Socialist? Ok, I understand- how about, Ponziism then- as opposed to Socialism or Progressiveism- sound better? I digress!

I really regret ever posting that link or getting involved in this political discussion. I failed at my attempt. What a surprise.

I did feel that I needed to point out that writings from Helium would not qualify as a source that a ninth grader could cite in a term paper in a government class. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the content (for or against socialism) was from a junior high term paper. But I digress.

Having pooh poohed Helium, I felt obligated to find something(s) credible with thought leadership that spanned the spectrum. Trying to get educated on socialism and aspects of it is daunting as there is too much information (TMI). It took me a while but here is a link to writings on the historical and theoretical aspects of socialism and Marxism from Fordham University.
This essay is a pretty good discussion from a conservative European perspective.

There are many good sources for information from qualified knowledgeable people on the Internet on various subjects. Helium isn't one of them.

I was thinking about this and this statement is actually a little hypocritical to me (can I say hypocritical???).....

How many blogs have I seen lately that have been written by qualified knowledeable people? Are these politic blogs written by people that are much like the people that write for Helium or do you people writing these political blogs actually work for the government and get this knowledge firsthand??? My guess would be the latter.

As I said in the other blog, that article was picked because to me it was explained in layman's term and to my knowledge, most of us here are just regular, average people (well I'll admit I am).

That's just my little 'ole opinion though and I know I'm just beating a dead horse on this subject, so I've said my piece and now I'm done

Probably none, truth be told. I think where we vary here is not in people posting blogs or comments but in the quality and reliability of external links that people cite as sources.

There is that old saying about considering the source. Sources need to be scrutinized. There is a lot of misinformation on the Internet, and there are many sites that are not what they seem...the old lipstick on a pig.

So I don't see any hypocrisy.

I have nothing further to say about Helium.

That should be former not latter.... I'm sure you guys figured that out, but upon reading my response, I figured I should clear that up...just in case!
