I thought that this would be interesting to see who each of us liked as our favorite all time president of our country, whether it's the current president or someone from the past in recent years. I would say my favorite all time president would have to be Reagan. The reason is he came in at a time where our country was having so many problems with Iran, the jobless rate, and inflation. America's pride was at one of the lowest in recent years. Our defense needed built back up after cuts in it and he did that while president. I think a great military defense is one of the keys to such a great country. Other keys are creating jobs by reducing taxes as he did. Our economy did very well, and when Reagan came up for re-election, he won in a total landslide. That's how sucessful he was as President, and most everyone knew that. Reagan was very likeable with a very good sense of humor to him. He was a very good public speaker, and a good man who believed in God and traditional values. I don't expect people to hold the same views I do with this, but to me, he was by far the best president in my lifetime. Now, what I would love to know is who your favorite all time president is, and the reasons.

This is a repost from one of my original blogs from Jan. 2007. Enjoy!

The Skwirl

You're such a kiss ass!

Seriously, you can't think of a former U.S. president that was your favorite of all time? Eh, you would probably pick Obama after his 4 year term was over with... j/k!

Actually I don't have one because although some have changed some things a little , no president has changed anything major enough to make bottle rockets fly out of my ass with excitement, but then again that doesn't sound exciting at all. They make promises but bills have to pass & politicians always void every presidents decision that would make a positive effect. When we get a president that can persuade the stupid politicians to pass a bill that is a positive then he's the man I like as president.. That's just me

Please give us a more specific time frame, like since Roosevelt, in the 20th century to today, etc.

In 4 years I hope I am able to say Obama. That would mean he did a lot of good for this country and was able to at least get us headed in an uphill stance. Instead of where we've been.

Quite a few of them have done good things and not so good things.Including Reagan, I liked him. But at this point I am going to say Bill Clinton. If he could run again, I'd vote for him again.

I don't care who was blowing him. That's between him, his wife and God.
I do Not like the fact that he lied about it, but let's be real, how many men in that position.... no pun intended.... wouldn't lie about it? But I find it ironic that the ones trying to crucify him the most over it got caught with their own hands in the cookie car...

It's the second time in United States history that our deficit has had a budget surplus. We had strong economic growth and low unemployment.
The American economy was very strong during his years in office.

We had better trade policies with foreign countries. And we just seemed to get along better with them in general.
We knew who our enemies were, we didn't have to worry about almost everyone siding against us.

I liked Clinton and so far I like Obama. I t hink it is going to take him his whole term or maybe even two terms to get things back on track though because he did inherit a hot mess when he took office. But I would like to see a President just once lock down the house and senate until they get something done. Just lock the doors and say no one goes anywhere until all this stuff gets voted on one way or the other.

Well although CasuallyLooking and I don't agree on Obama (damn do you think I should quit sending her those emails bashing him? ) I agree with her on Bill Clinton. Our economy has not been as good since he left office, and as I have said here before if he could run another term, I not only would vote for him, but I would go to Washington DC and give him a blow job myself just to say Thanks.

I have never understood why the Right fawns over Reagan so much. He echos what they believe but how much did he really accomplish in the "Reagan Revolution"?

If I have to pick a recent president, I am on board with casuallylooking and the reasons she explains.

But I find it ironic that the ones trying to crucify him the most over it got caught with their own hands in the cookie car.

Now let's be fair and compare apples with apples and oranges with oranges. Many of those you refer to as getting caught with their own hands in the cookie jar may have been involved in inappropriate sexual activities, but these encounters did not involve women.

If only I were taller and bigger than Clinton, I would cut in front of him to stand in front of the same line that Ewe_Wish & Blueyesprkin are standing in!

That's my 'political' statement for the day and I stand by it!

The excesses of the Clinton/Bush years will haunt the American economy for many years yet. Does anyone buy Obama's expectation of 4 percent growth next year? There was much good in Reagan and also bad as well. I might have to go back all the way to Roosevelt (first two terms) to find an effective head of state.

Eisenhower accomplished a lot in his first term. But like most two term presidents, the first term produced much good, the second very little if any.

I do and many economists and analysts do. But before I got jumped, let me say allegorically that it is like your kid raising a grade from an "F" to a "D".

Regardless of his escapades I like Clinton. Like some have said in this blog, our economy was much better under him.

Sorry! I guess Gerald Ford. Because he wasn't in there long enough to really start grating on me.

My favorite president was the last one in history who actually didn't "dumb down" his speech or positions in the media just to appeal to the uneducated masses.

John Quincy Adams.

That'll be close to 200 years ago pretty soon.

Sad, huh?
