A friend friend of mine, a displaced Texan living "across the pond" with her British husband had this posted on her Face Book page. I think this would work if everyone can meet the conditions and it makes perfect sense. I would have a hard time with #2 since I'm a Honda gal all the way.
NOTE - If this is a repeat post, my apologies.
This is from an article in the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper.
The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?"
I think this guy nailed it!
Dear Mr. President: Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.
You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:
There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force.
Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement, with the following stipulations:
1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings -
Unemployment fixed.
2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered-
Auto Industry fixed.
3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage -
Housing Crisis fixed.
It can't get any easier than that!
If more money is needed, have all members of Congress pay all their taxes.
If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.
If not, please disregard.

Sounds good to me. Better than giving it to the people who run their buisnesses into bankruptcy.

This is SO amazingly simple....... and yet it makes perfect sense.
If they are, say, 52... they could not collect social security for 10 years.... BUT..... if you cannot live for 10 years on one million dollars, you are some sort of dumbass and deserve to starve.
I drove Honda's for 15 years and I love them........ but I'm 54 now and I LOVE my Buick LaSabre. It gets 30mpg on the interstate, 24 around town, and you still cannot beat a big American car for comfort. No road noise and you don't feel every bump. That was always my only complaint with the Honda's. (the older ones, anyway.... I couldn't afford a new one)

Just a simple 1 million dollars to every American Citizen would save Trillions of Wasted Money and have the economy flowing quickly but then it would kill the aspect of creating a socialist country!

What was I thinking....... I've seen this in different forms and did the math before and it is impossible. Not sure why it got by me this time.
40 million people x ONE dollar ea = 40 Million dollars so....... $10 ea = $400 Million Dollars $100 ea = 4 Billion Dollars $1,000 ea = 40 Billion Dollars $10,000 ea = 400 Billion Dollars $100,000 ea = 4 Trillion Dollars And..... 1 million dollars for 40 million people = 40 TRILLION dollars. Does the US have this kind of money laying around? NO
But... it was fun thinking about getting a million dollars. I'm 54.
