Has anyone ever heard of LifeLine Screening?

This is good to know for people who don't have medical insurance (like me but that should change in a month) and are concerned about health risks, like I was!

After the tests, if there's anything serious that needs attention right away, they'll tell you- otherwise, it takes 21 days to get the results in the mail and you can take them to your next doc's appointment. These are tests you normally don't get at a regular doc visit, unless something needs to be looked further into!

It's a low cost medical screening service looking for several serious diseases!

I took advantage of it, cost $139.00 for the test I took and an hour later, there was no problem detected and I walked out feeling much better! I mainly did this because in a few months, I plan on starting a series of "mini-vacations" to wherever and wanted to be reasonably sure, there wouldn't be a pending major surprise!

The tests that they screen for presently are:

Stroke / Carotid artery disease | Stroke / Atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) |

Heart disease risk | Elevated C-reactive protein | High cholesterol | Type 2 diabetes | Abdominal aortic aneurysm | Peripheral arterial disease | Osteoporosis risk.

They have several different categories each with tests related to that category. Each category has a one time cost with it and takes about an hour to fill out one sheet of medical questions and the tests themselves!

I think it's a good deal- just to know that things are ok or if something is wrong, you have a chance to get it corrected before it gets much worse! And no, I am not affiliated in any way with LifeLine- it came in my snail-mail box.

If even one person catches something serious in time and has it taken care of- then this blog is well worth the effort and I'm happy!

Good luck!

I should add that this service is available in the UK but I'm not sure if it is available in Canada!

I can personally vouch for the value of these tests.

Eight years ago I saw a flyer stating that these screening tests were coming to our area.

I informed my Mom and with her consent, I made an appointment for the full battery of tests for her.

Two major findings came from the tests, both were potentially life threatening. The first was the presence of atrial fibrillation(irregular heartbeat). The second was carotid artery disease. Her carotid artery had 90% blockage. This led to surgery shortly thereafter.

My Mom was 75 at the time of the tests. We celebrated her 83rd birthday last April.
