Was flipping through an old magazine and saw the old diamonds are a girls best friend add. that made me start thinking about gifts of the past. not so much the diamonds or pearls, but the little things. question is ladies what little gift have you received that meant as much as a big expencive one. guys what have you giving that was little but paid off in a big way. I bought her a small set of black hills earrings the second time we met. they were little, under $25. but paid off huge that night.

Well, I certainly can't say it's "little" but it has paid off in a big way many times!!!

My husband and I really are not into monetary things. Just spending time together and doing things together as a couple is the best gift he can give me

When Griz was here at Christmas time we went to a store and I found a new color nail polish I liked. On the cap it had a ring, kind of like the kind you get out of a bubble gum machine, with a set the color of the polish in it. It's a brown color.
He ended up buying the nail polish for me and I teased about he bought me a chocolate diamond. So I told eveyone I got a chocoalte diamond for Christmas...

Everytime I look at that ring I smile and think of him........ Yeap, I've even put it on and wore it a few times, and normally I'm a woman who wears nothing but gold...No costume jewelry. But this means a lot to me.

Funny, I was going to do a blog about this same thing...
kudos..

When my husband was living, it was the unexpected gifts that I loved. One is sitting in front of me...a tiny crystal cat.

I think the gift I loved best and caught my heart was the two cement lawn ornament elves. He drove semi and saw them along the road...lawn ornements for sale. He had to find a place to park his big truck and WALK to buy them then lug them back to his truck.

I still have one of them. Two years ago when I moved here I put them out by my lil red shed and within a week someone stole the blue one...I was furious! I moved the red one up by my front door and so far so good.

You didn't ask about the worst gives but I'm gonna tell ya anyway...

He delivered insulation to NY City. One day his drop was just doors away from Saks Fifth Avenue. He went in and bought me some perfume...I hate to think what he paid for it but it was the most gaud-awful smelling stuff!! I only wore it once or twice then years later it "came up missing" but he never noticed. I did keep the box for a long time because it said Saks Fifth Avenue...I liked it better than the perfume.

I won't mention the gaudy florescent pantsuits he bought me for Christmas in the early years of our marriage. But it was the last time he ever bought me clothes I can tell ya that!
