I was cool once...
I was in a band. Nothing major, just steady gigs great times good music and beer money. I enjoyed a low responsibility lifestyle. I did all the drugs, drank all the liquor and still managed to be the first there and the last to leave. I had opportunity for more debauchery than I had time to execute. Yeah I was cool.
I worked hard. I got an education in the midst of it all. Cool doesn't pay the bills and debauchery can be expensive. I started to strip off some cool to get ahead. I garnered some success. Responisiblity follows success. I worked hard and generated some of the things people covet. I've generated safety, stability, respect, and financial health. I've procreated, taught and learned. All at the expense of cool. The seeds of responsibity grow into towering trees of duty.
I'm a coatrack now. I hold up all the stuff you need. I hold up all that keeps you warm and safe and dry. I hold up the place you forgot to check when you can't find your mittens or your keys. I started to wobble once because of all the stuff i'm holding up. But, we found a solution didn't we. We bolted my feet to the floor so I would never wobble again.
I think I liked it better when I was cool.

Hey now...What about us groupies??? I was a great groupie back in the day - for my brother's band (for whom I also doubled as a backup singer and tambourine player if I was buzzed enough :), then for my friends' band (the lightman from which became my boys' dad...he was sooo hot back then!). Using my sister's ID to get into bars, dancing in front of the stage and making googly eyes at the guys in the band (drummer Billy E looked like Kurt Russel with black hair...*sizzle*), screaming and cheering to get the crowd going...Now just where would y'all rockers be with out us groupies??? To steal a line from "Maximum Overdrive" We made you! (LOL)

Hell Canu, I meant the bassist thing as a complement! That whole "shut the fuck up" thing, hell bassists are the most down to earth folks I know!!! And anyway it's not music without a solid bottom end!!
