Lets say you have a 5 year old dog that gets sick and is suffering. You take it to the vet and there is nothing they can do for it and unfortunately you have it put down. This is called Humane.
Now lets take this to another extreme and now it’s a family member who is diagnosed with a disease that will end with a very painful death.
Now why is it not humane to allow them to end their life before it becomes to painful and bearable to live without strong medications that keep them in a state of constant sleep until they pass on.
Jack Kevorkian assisted many people with ending their days before the pain became to great. Is he a murderer or a saint?
Yes I know many people have the religion/spiritual belief that it is a sin that will send you to hell. But do we have a right to tell someone that they have no right to end their life because of our own beliefs?
What if it was you, a spouse or your own child that was going to die suffering, would your thoughts and beliefs change?
I have thought if one wishes to end their life, that is their right. But if they wish for assistance, and for it to be a legal assist suicide, so no one assisting is charged with a crime, that they should have to seek counseling from like a psychologist, then a religious counselor of their choosing and then if they still wish to end their life, no government has a right to interfere.
If it was or becomes me one day and I wish to end it I will, I will go on my own terms.
Just curious as to what others beliefs and thoughts are on this subject.

I'm like you...I will do it myself if Needed!!!
Personally..I think..it should be up to the Person...!!!!!
If the doctors are 100% Correct that is!!
I have told the story before..about my X mother in-law...
The docs. told her she had cancer.....and after all of the Treatments...were finished,
They re-looked at the test results..and They had Made a Mistake!!! She NEVER had Cancer!!!! She had went thru..all the Chemo..and Rad. For Nothing!!!

Another example of people imposing their views on others.
In some religions it may be wrong to end your own life and that's fine for those that believe but it's wrong to impose that belief on others and force them to suffer a long prolonged death because of it.
People should mind their own business a little more when it comes to how people manage their own affairs.
Funny though, it's often the opposite, people stick their nose into other people's personal lives while ignoring the bad public behavior that does effect others.

Kevorkian a murderer? Kevorkian a saint? Neither, he was just somebody that could handle taking another persons life with their permission. If I thought a loved would lay in a hospital bed suffering with no chance of a life other than that, then I could pull the plug if that's what they wanted.

If I can't make the choice for myself then I hope a family member can.

Many years ago, my sister and I sat for weeks on a death watch with our mother.

Brain cancer...at this point the left side of her body was useless, body functions were no longer under her control, but she was pain free, and happy, slightly childlike, but still very much herself.

Mom was also a diabetic.

The angels known as hospic arrived on our doorstep...true angels, as time went by, her good days were outweighted by the bad, but still pain free and mostly lucid.

But brain cancer, is brain cancer....and it was growning...again. A private deal was struck between my sister and I...IF the time came when she was in pain, or having constant terrifing delucions, we would do what had to be done! We were unsure of the exact plan, and spend many hours discussing what, how we would do it...

Angels are still our daily companions, and very casually mention, to each of us serpratly, that if mom were to get a full injection of insulin, and the other sister wasnt aware, and gave her a second injection of insulin, she would slip quielty into a coma.

Sis and I knew what we had heard, and discussed how kind it was of the nurse to tellus how to do what hopefully would never be done....

Another week goes by, a different nurse stops in, and shares the same information to us.

Did it come to that...no, thankfully no, would I have done it...yes...I hope I would have been able to find the true courage.

I am an advocate of euthanasia...and I believe it should not be quite so difficult as it it now for a person or family member to legally end ones life. Right now there is only one state where it is legal (Oregon?).

I really don't think I could do it. I would pray for God to take them at that point and hope he would. It would be in God's hands whether it would be their time to go or not. That's just how I feel.

I agree with the room. I would hate to see them suffer, if there was some way to make the pain go away I would do it i n a heart beat. Kudo for this one flirt.
