Once upon a time there was a young woman. She believed in magic and elves and unicorns. One night when there was no moon to be seen her boyfriend took her for a walk. They were walking into a not so familiar part of the forest. Holding hands and conversing deeply the young woman suddenly realized they were no longer on the path. The dead leaves crumpled under their feet. The darkness was supressive. She went to pull herself closer to her man only to find he was no longer at her side. The canopy of the forest trees blocked out any light that might be given by the stars. The young womans heart-beat began to pick up speed. She was lost and blinded. She started reaching around and walked from tree to tree. It must be close to mid-night she thought to herself. To her relief she saw a glimmer of light off in the distance between the trees. After what seemed liked hours she reached a clearing in which the light came from. The stars seemed to be shinning only here. On one side of the clearing the young woman spotter the garb of her missing partner. On the other side of the clearing was the most beautiful creature she had ever seen. The flowing mane was as white as fresh snow. Slowing walking towards the horse she could now see that it was no horse indeed. For it was a unicorn. She shivered as a gasp left her mouth. The horn was an amazing sight to behold. Although is was most definitely white it had an iridescent rainbow glow to it. Mesmerizing. The unicorn jerked it's head back in a motion that showed he wanted the woman to climb on. The faster they went the more comfortable the young woman felt. Zigging and zagging in and out of the trees. A very excillerating ride. As the couple arrived back at the clearing the woman could feel the heat from the now rising sun. She was exhausted. The unicorn took the young woman over towards a bench. She was asleep before she knew it. The sun was straight up in the sky when she awakened. Rolling over she squinted and saw that she was lying on a blanket in the middle of the clearing with her boyfriend at her side. The young woman never said a thing about the unicorn and the wonderfull ride to her boy friend although she had her suspicions.
Later in her life, the young woman, every seven years when there was no moon to be seen would once again have the thrill of the unicorn ride.
