I heard something a couple of days ago on Fox News with the debate on welfare and drugs. Should people receiving welfare be required getting tested for drugs in order to collect it? Some think that that would be invasion of privacy and too much government meddling. What do you think?

Too many of them use the benefits they get and exchange them in some way, shape or form for money.....so I say yes, if they want money for that shit, go get a job and get off welfare!!

The state that I live in you get $190 for two kids, thirty four dollars for the next kid you have, $29 for the next kid, so who in their right mind would want to have any kids to get that? You couldn't live on it, couldn't even buy diapers on it, so why would you want to go to all the hassle of putting up with the welfare system to get that piddling amount?

I totally agree with you sparkle but with "that kind of money" in addition to probably 400 bucks or more a month in food stamps, pay virtually nothing for rent, free healthcare..... looks like easy street to some people.... those people don't have much drive and it's a shame they are teaching their children this way of life!
Bruce... you just don't miss a beat do you?!?!?

I'd say if you are going to live off the government, you should abide by the government.......................right??

If they went to get a job they would more than likely be tested. Why use our taxes to support their habits. I think they should be tested.

It ticks me off to see the people in the projects driving better cars than most of us working stiffs can afford & realy burns my ass seeing those huge flat screen tv's being hauled in.
Test them. Hell we get tested for work and evidently don't get paid nearly as well.

Drugs have something to do with it for like 2% of welfare recipients. Not saying only 2% of welfare recipients do drugs, but that's not always why they need welfare. Hell, if you gave me that test I'd probably fail it right now. And I have a job.
I say as long as they're required to undergo occupational therapy, job placement counseling, and submit proof of job applications, whatever they do with their welfare checks is their own damn business.

West Virginia bill would require drug testing for government assistance Those benefits include welfare, unemployment and food stamps The plan: If someone fails, they get 60 days -- with benefits -- to clean up If they fail the next test, they lose benefits for two years
