What's your favorite 1980's comedy movie? Back in 1985 I watched a movie for the first time called "The Breakfast Club". Ever since then when I see it on I try to watch it, and yeah, sometimes I get a little burnt out with it, but it's still my favorite movie. Most if not all of us can relate to that movie in some way or another. So, the question again is, what's your favorite 1980's comedy movie, and why?
Yeah yeah, this is another one of my Straddle classics repost, and it's from Jan. 7, 2007. The only people left today who commented on the original post is me, Megan, and Hopon. The others have cancelled, or no longer active like they use to be on here. Enjoy!

Steve Martin is perfect as a buttoned down asshole and you can almost smell John Candy's BO over the television.

Runner up would probably be Beetle Juice. The Breakfast Club was a bit too much of a chick flick for me.

The Breakfast Club was a bit too much of a chick flick for me. Not sure why you thought it was. I have seen chick flick movies, and I'm not really into those type of movies, and I don't believe The Breakfast Club was a chick flick movie. It has a pretty strong following of people who are mostly in their 30's and 40's today. It's considered a classic today.

Not sure why you thought it was. I just didn't relate to characters and their scene I guess. For relationship comedies, When Harry Met Sally was pretty good.

When Harry Met Sally was pretty good. Especially the part where they are setting in the restaurant and Sally starts showing him what a fake orgasm sounds like, and after she is totally done, the old lady at the next table says "I'll have what she's having"
I need to rent that movie again. Thanks!!

OMG the memories I might have to rent some movies this weekend. Caddyshack, Spaceballs, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Airplane, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Strange Brew, Stripes, Police Academy, Blues Brothers.... and then you have the horror and action movies. I guess the 80's were did have a few pretty good movies. Thanks everyone for the rental list.

Don't laugh, but...."Tootsie"! It took lots of guts on Dustin Hoffman's part to play that role, and the ending is superb. I've seen several interviews lately with Hoffman, and he's much more the everyday guy than the impression of a snooty Hollywood actor that I had.
When you say Steve Martin, I think of "Parenthood". The rollercoaster metaphor at the end is priceless, and the ups and downs of everyday family life are marvelously portrayed.
"When Harry Met Sally" is another good flick that you can watch over and over, and see something new each time...

I liked Weird Science. But since we are talking about 80's comedies, I thought I would take this time to remind people about the police academy movies. I know some people out there finally repressed that fiasco out of their memory, and I am here to remind you. Tee hee.
