Okay everyone, who's more tolerant, men or women? Also, are most women more tolerant to men than they are to other women, what do you think? We have all heard over the years about tolerance of other people, so you you think you are a pretty tolerant person?

In my opinion, I think men are more genarally tolerant than women are. I also feel that most women can't seem to tolerate other women, but they can tolerate men better. As for me being a tolerant person, I would say for the most part I think I am, as long as people don't try to shove their lifestyles, as well as flaunt it down other peoples throats.

I feel like most of us are pretty open minded and tolerant when we're young. As we get older it seems like most of us tend to become less tolerant and less open minded of others because of life's experiences and growing more moral over the years.

People who are secure in who they are and what they believe in have more tolerance than anyone. I don't think gender has anything to do with it. People who are quick to judge others, get upset when others don't agree with them, point out others behaviors are usually the ones who have no tolerance for others because they themselves are measuring everyone on their own ideals and behaviors or lack of there of.

I think it also has to be taken into consideration what the subject is that is being tolerated or not tolerated. I personally don't have tolerance for vulgar, mean, over bearing opinionated people, although i don' t react to them I just ignore them. That is not being tolerant just not actively being nasty to my fellow human being. I am more tolerant to the homeless than some people seemly because I feel there but for the Grace of God go I.

If everyone would take a moment to walk in each others shoes for a moment or at least try to understand what each person is going through, I believe there would be a lot more tolerance in the world.

I think it's more like the world gets more tolerant as time goes on, and people stay about as tolerant as they were when they were young as they get older. But when they're older, the world has gotten more tolerant than it was when they were young, so they seem less tolerant.

because of life's experiences and growing more moral over the years.

Growing more moral makes one more tolerant, not less.

I saw something about this issue on tv this week, and most polled showed that most women weren't tolerant of other women like they were with men. Also, most women prefer to have men bosses instead of women bosses.

And in my experience from what I have seen, most women after they marry seem to want to change and reshape the men they fell in love with in the first place for the "perfect husband".

Come back and comment in 20 years, you may feel differently as you get some more age on you.

But there's no doubt that the new generations are more tolerant than the previous generations. You may have gripes about the generation after yours.

Good question, I've seen where both sexes are more tolerant but it seems to change with the topic. I know personally I'm more tolerant of other's life style. Just don't push your views, lifestyle, beliefs down my throat and it's all good.

For me, I have a long memory so when I take a stand, I take a stand and it'd take a bulldozer to budge me.

I think men appear to be more tolerant because so often they don't let whatever is going on bother them one way or the other. They tend to ignore things easier.
Women on the other hand ... it depends on how much stress we are already under as to how tolerant we are.
Some days you could bulldoze our home and we would be alright, other days we are going to rip someones head off because they chewed their gum wrong...

If Pink left due to the hassles of trying to be on here lately, I don't blame her. But I hope she comes back soon.

Why wait? You're almost exactly 20 years my senior, you could just tell me. I read all your blogs. I hear morals and tolerance and all these loaded words thrown around. And it seems like a lot of the older people seem to feel the same way- that tolerance is a desirable element in our society- live and let live, to paraphrase most of their comments. What do you see as moral about intolerance? And how do you answer to the pro-tolerance old people?

Oh, when you're young you think you know it all and have some rebellion and revolt about what your parents usually thought because it was just different. I use to be more open minded with certain things, but as I gotten older I realized that being a little too open minded is not always good, especially when you're a christian when you have some issues such as same sex marriage. I don't support that at all. People are free to live how they wanna live, and whom with, but marriage according to the Bible is between a man and a woman. That for one is one of the examles of being moral, but not tolerant and open minded. As most people age they tend to grow more religious along the way. Another example is when I was younger I thought that if swingers wanted to switch partners with other married couples, I thought that if it didn't hurt anyone, let them. But seeing through the years with a loss of morlas along the years in society, it has been an awakening to me and pretty disturbing. But people have to live their own lives and answer for anything and everything on judgement day, but it doesn't mean I have to agree with their lifestyles. As long as they don't flaunt it and run it down other peoples throats then I don't have a problem with what they do in their own personal lives. I'm speaking for my own self and experiences with how I matured and didn't sell out my core beliefs just for the sake of being open minded on everything.

If there is a God,I'm sure that's left to him to sort out, don't you think? My mom's a Christian too and she's alright with gays. Thats because she knows its not her place to pass stringent judgment on anyone. Just my opinion.

I too found that joke horribly racist and offensive. I've got half a mind to report you. But I'll leave that up to the scores of Beverly Hills French maids you've now marginalized. Jerk.

Evil, this comment you posted on Max's blog doesn't look like you're very tolerant to his freedom of speech, and hell, the guy only told a cute joke.

Luna, yeah, God does judge, but I also know that people have to set examples and higher standards as far as morals go in society. If we didn't have standards in life, where would we all be? It's like teaching small children for example. Certainly you would want so decency in life in the human race.

Yeah, thats like all fine and gravy, but please dont condemn those who live a different life from you because they dont fit to your standards. And yes,to me, allowing them not to get married is condemning.

I'm sure you read the Bible,Shawn and although I don't and probably "needs to be saved" I am aware it says "judge lest ye be judged"? I'm pretty sure it does. More or less it says "live your life".

I was gonna say I have no tolerance then I looked up the difference between tolerance and patience. I'm pretty tolerant but my patience level ranges from about -0 to 0....

I'd rather be around men then women for reasons I'll keep to myself here...and it ain't sexual either....

In my experiences I think women are more tolerant. That based on all the men that years ago carped about kids with long hair. Men tend to not be tolerant of gays or men with long hair or fat women or kids just being kids or pets in the house and yada yada yada....

Sorry, Luna, there are some things that I won't compromise my values in, and one of those are in that area. Should I and others do that just for the sake of being "open minded" and "tolerant". I can say that people who rioted out in Cali because the majority have spoken about same sex marriage aren't very tolerant to the ma jority of the peoples beliefs and the laws.

I have a couple of lesbian friends who would love to marry their partners, and they know how I feel about that part, and are cool with how I feel. They also don't think I'm condemning them in any way because I don't believe in same sex marriage. They know I'm a traditionalist and old fashion when it comes to marriage.

Apropos to the discussion, somewhat. Well, all due respect I'd be pissed if I weren't allowed to get married to whom I loved..oh wait! At one time they didn't allow interracial marriage..how about that? Conservatism in a way is good and bad,but when it steps over into dictating what people do with their lives, thats when it sucks.

Luna, I wish more people were tolerant in showing respect for the American flag as they should since our veterans fought and died for that flag! I guess unlike you, I'm not very tolerant to those who trash, burn the flag in protest, stomp on the flag, and spit on the flag. But then to some people like you, it's just a flag, right?

Luna, I wish more people were tolerant in showing respect for the American flag as they should since our veterans fought and died for that flag! I guess unlike you

At one time,I was a good little American robot getting up and saying the pledge with my hand on my heart and all that patriotic shit. Eventually when I became older I got a clue, got enlightened and began to think and question. Question a country that at one time spit on,beat, sicced dogs, turned the hose on,hanged and burned my ancestors just because of the color of their skin. Sure, theres a someone half my race in office, but only after 400 years to make it so. America isn't so great, and I believe the true definition of being an American is to question everything and the fore fathers specifically wrote it down that we have that right to say what we want and express how we feel. And dammit,if I want to say its a muthafucking piece of cloth, fucking LET ME! Being proud of one's country isn't encompassed in a flag;I think me stating my opinion is what being an American is all about. Doesn't make me "traitor" or anything of the like because I see this country for what it is. I wish I could get that through your and other's heads.

Anyway, fuck this place. Its like a fucking virtual trailor park with the ignorance, intolerance, veiled racism and "either you're with us or against us" attitude.

Feb 23 @ 2:34AM
Oh, we don't have to agree on things. We'll never see things eye to eye with some issues. But if you think I'm going to let someone like you lecture me on tolerance when you damn well show none whatsoever in some areas that are sensitive to others, then I agree, fuck it. Practice what you preach! I like you, but personally, I think you're a lost soul. Yeah, I'm not black, but it seems that a lot of blacks have chips on their shoulders about what their owed in society today because of our ancestors did to them. I can't help what they did long ago to blacks. I'm sorry it had to happen, but making people feel guilty is not the answer.

Oh yes, play the race card once again. I am not a racist, Max is not racist, and most people on this site are NOT racist!

There's a lot of things people do that I don't approve of but I believe in...Hate the sin but love the sinner.

I can't approve of the gay lifestyle but that doesn't stop me for loving someone who lives it. Their chosen lifestyle is only a small part of who they are as a person. I look at the whole of a person...not just a piece of them.

That applies to any behaviors that affects my beliefs. People are a plethora of many things. It's wrong to pick one part of them and say I don't like all of you because of that one thing.
