I recall some professor at a university studying that a few years ago and he coined a term for it, ear worms.
I was on YouTube about a month ago and was checking out clips for the sixties show, Rowan and Martin's Laugh In. In hindsight it was a mistake, but I clicked on video of Tiny Tim singing Tiptoe Through the Tulips and couldn't get it out of my head for quite a while...damn, there it is again.
