AND WE JUST GAVE THESE IDIOTS HOW MANY MILLIONS???

Cancel your credit card before you die..........(hilarious!)

Now some people are really stupid!!!!
Be sure and cancel your credit cards before you die.

This is so priceless, and so, so easy to see happening, customer service being what it is today.

A lady died this past January, and Citibank billed her for February and March for their annual service charges on her credit card, and added late fees and interest on the monthly charge. The balance had been $0.00 when she died, but now somewhere around $60.00. A family member placed a call to Citibank.

Here is the exchange :

Family Member: 'I am calling to tell you she died back in January.'

Citibank: 'The account was never closed and the late fees and charges still apply.'

Family Member: 'Maybe, you should turn it over to collections.'

Citibank: 'Since it is two months past due, it already has been.'

Family Member: So, what will they do when they find out she is dead?'

Citibank: 'Either report her account to frauds division or report her to the credit bureau, maybe both!'

Family Member: 'Do you think God will be mad at her?'

Citibank: 'Excuse me?'

Family Member: 'Did you just get what I was telling you - the part about her being dead?'

Citibank: 'Sir, you'll have to speak to my supervisor.'

Supervisor gets on the phone:

Family Member: 'I'm calling to tell you, she died back in January with a $0 balance.'

Citibank: 'The account was never closed and late fees and charges still apply.'

Family Member: 'You mean you want to collect from her estate?'

Citibank: (Stammer) 'Are you her lawyer?'

Family Member: 'No, I'm her great nephew.' (Lawyer info was given)

Citibank: 'Could you fax us a certificate of death?'

Family Member: 'Sure.' (Fax number was given )

After they get the fax :

Citibank: 'Our system just isn't setup for death. I don't know what more I can do to help.'

Family Member: 'Well, if you figure it out, great! If not, you could just keep billing her. She won't care.'

Citibank: 'Well, the late fees and charges will still apply.'

(What is wrong with these people?!?)

Family Member: 'Would you like her new billing address?'

Citibank: 'That might help...'

Family Member: ' Odessa Memorial Cemetery , Highway 129, Plot Number 69.'

Citibank: 'Sir, that's a cemetery!'

Family Member: 'And what do you do with dead people on your planet???'

(Priceless!!)
You wondered why Citi is going broke and need the feds to bail them out!!

i haven't heard anything recently on this, but is the New York Mets new field still going to be called Citi Field? I know the comany paid so much to get those naming rights for their new field for about 30 years I believe.

If they were part of the big bail out... I don't think they should buying anything of the sort!!! Nor should it be given their name! That pisses me off!

The last lines had me rolling

I remembered when my grandmother died some years back, the house insurance tried to collect for some time after the insurance was cancelled and the house was already in the heirs' names.

I'd hate to be the poor bastard who gets her social security number...

That is pretty sad but I think Bank of America would be worse than Citibank

You know what Bruce.... there are new people who join this site everyday, and maybe that haven't seen these jokes before... new to them! Or there are others who might miss a joke the first time it's posted, so it's a first to them when they do read it... maybe you should stop playing officer and just let people do what they're going to do... if you've read a joke... don't read it again. If a new person signs up here and posts a joke, how are they supposed to know something has been posted previously?? Give it a rest man! JMO!

get over yourself Bruce..... your blogs aren't always the most exciting or insightful that I've ever read!

Look.. I'm not here to make enemies.... so don't become one!

I gotten this type of stuff before. The american cancer Society sent me Survey forms to fill out on my wifes cancer treatments. They got upset when I quit filling in the parts about her treatment within the last six months. I got these surveys for five years after her death before they figured out that the reason she wasnt getting treatments is because she was already dead. FIVE YEARS of me telling them that. And a washinton bank kept sending me renewal forms on a bank account she was trying to set up before she died. Three years in a row after the fact and wanted to know why she no longer cared enough foe her kids to follow through with their trust fund. Go figure.

Yes they did. Bad thing is I have heard worse stories from other people who have gone through the same thing. There was even a paper on how to deal with theses type of situations after the death of a loved one.
